She was coming.
She was finally coming.
In a couple of hours...she would be here.
Zachary was adding some last minute touches to his room when the doorbell rang.
He looked at his alarm clock and frowned. Weird. She wasn't supposed to be here yet.
He got up and answered the door and there she was...
Kaitlyn.
He leaned up against the door post. "Can I help you?"
"You most certainly can," she smiled brightly. "You can let me in."
"Why?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm having a party and I need a place to keep it at," she explained.
"...So you thought you'd ask me," he finished for her.
"Yeah!" she smiled even bigger, giving her hair a little flip. "Because you're super nice, I figured it wouldn't be a problem. So..."
She tried to walk in but he blocked her.
"Listen to me, Kaitlyn. I'm having company over soon. I can't have your party here."
She glared at him. "Oh yes. You can."
She attempted to barge in but he held strong.
"Listen, Zachy! I'll do anything! I'll pay you money! I'll kiss you! I'll-"
He held his hand up to interrupt her.
"I've already made plans. I have people coming over. You can't throw your party here. I don't know how much more clearer I can make that."
"Well let me make something clear to you, Zachary Kohl," she growled, getting in his face. "You are letting me have my party here or else you will regret it."
He shook his head. "I'm sorry. Any other day I might agree, but not this one."
"Why?" She sneered. "Is it that stupid girlfriend of yours?"
Zachary stiffened. "She isn't stupid. She's the most supportive, selfless, caring girl in the world. So please, just leave me be."
A car pulled up in the driveway and parked there. A girl slid out of it, sunglasses and a small purse over her shoulder, and in an instant Zachary recognized her.
Brooke Myers.
His girlfriend.
"Hi," she said, shutting her car door and strutting up to him.
"Hi," he nervously said back.
"Who's this," she questioned, sliding her glasses down to her nose to get a better look at the girl who was at her boyfriend's door.
"Umm... Brooke, this is Kaitlyn, my neighbor and acquaintance. Kaitlyn, this is Brooke, my girlfriend."
"Hi," Kaitlyn spat.
"Hi," Brooke replied coldly.
"You were just leaving, weren't you, Kaitlyn?" Zachary asked, ushering Kaitlyn out his door.
"You'll regret this," Kaitlyn threatened through gritted teeth. "You sure as hell will."
"Just leave me alone," he muttered angrily and pushed her away from him.
"FINE!" Kaitlyn screamed. "BE THAT WAY!"
She stalked up to her house and slammed the front door so hard the whole house visibly shook.
Zachary turned back to Brooke, who had an eyebrow cocked and a hand on her hip.
"I'm sorry about that. She wanted a party here and I refused. She's been bugging me about it for a little bit. Even tried to break into my house."
"It's okay," Brooke huffed. "Just forget about it. Let's go inside, shall we?"
"Okay," Zachary grinned.
He offered his arm, which she took, and he lead her into the house and closed the door softly behind him.
