What seemed to be a normal day for Slaya outside Granite City, turned into something he will never forget. While out scavenging food for his wife and child, he comes across what appears to be an abandoned bunker, hidden deep within clearwater woods & what appears to be a strange logo that's had a hard time dealing with the past 213 years of Minnesota weather. It takes a bit of tugging and turning, but he manages to get the door open, only to see that it leads down deep into the earth. He debates whether or not he should risk it, but the adventure he feels flowing through his blood is just too strong.
As he descends deeper into the cavern, it begins to get colder and colder, with what appears to be a light amount of frost starting to cover up all around the walls. After a couple more minutes, he reaches the bottom, where there's a secure rusted-up door, with a computer terminal on the wall next to it. Slaya begins to hack the computer, with a little help from a tool he grabbed from his friend Pak-RaT while visiting his General Store in the city. He sells anything from food, medical supplies, level alcohol, and, what people now call "Funny Veggie Grass", which is just cannabis. That part we will get to later *wink*
After a few more minutes, he gains access to beyond the door & immediately the air feels cold and dusty, knowing that no one has been down here in quite a long time. With his weapon ready, he begins to continue down the hallway, which has busted up decontamination arches along the way. After heading down the hall, you reach a hallway leading to the left, with a sign on the wall saying "Cryo/Genetic Testing Lab".
His curiosity peaks, and he begins to head in that direction, with the air getting colder as he goes. Things seem to be going fine and dandy down here, when all of a sudden, he comes across what is both a remarkable & horrifying site: The body of what looks like a security guard in front of him is being held up in the air by ice spikes that have shot up from the ground and impaled him 5 times, 4 of the Icicles in each limb and one thick Icicle going into the center of their chest, with dried frozen blood going down along the entry points.
After Slaya gets passed his shock, he continues down the pathway, and eventually hits a doorway, with two guards that are frozen in place, shooting towards the door. The bullets from the gun were frozen mid-air & facing into the room in front of him. Once he heads in, the room is full of cryogenic pods and what appears to be testing rooms. As he explores the room, he finds a terminal that is connected to all of them. Once he gains access, he discovers that there are four active cyro pods, with there being a 5th one that was opened about a week ago, due to an unknown issue. As he digs into the terminal more, he finds out that each pod is from a different location across the United States. One from Two Sun Arizona, another from the Boston Commonwealth, another from somewhere in Florida, the other one says UNKNOWN & the final one says "RESTRICTED ACCESS-SPECIMEN FEVZET-58"
It takes him what feels like an hour to get past the security walls, and if it weren't for PaK-RaT's hacking tool, this would never have worked. After a couple more tries, he found about 85 percent of the files related to the specimen. As he reads on, it turns out that the organization here was working for a group known as the Enclave & was mixing the FEV virus with multiple different mutations, along with something they are calling "Zetan Blood"?
He finds the list of trials they did with the different mixtures of what they called "FEVZET" After going through them, he realized that they were trying to create superhumans that could fight among their ranks & possibly start a war we can't face off against. People could control the elements like fire and ice, or maybe even people who can read or control people's minds. what about lifting and throwing objects without touching them? Like is this real???
But many of them appeared to be failures, causing mass hysteria or even their bodies just turning into ashes or goo. But once he got to the "TOP SECRET - UNTESTED FEVZET-SYM 58" file, flipped it open, and looked inside, the only thing he saw were the words "SHIFTER-PSYKER-EXPERIMENT WAS A SUCCESS", Before a loud bang & a cry for help grabbed his attention.
"Hello?!? Is there anyone here??!! What's going on?!?!"
Slaya is startled by the voice of a man yelling, along with a short coughing fit afterward. With his weapon ready to fire, he takes a deep breath and decides to communicate.
"Hello! I am here to help, I mean no harm!" Slaya says, his weapon still drawn with his finger on the trigger, ready to fire at the first sign of violence. But after a few moments, the sound of someone walking gets closer and louder. And just then, a man comes around the corner, in a blood-stained lab coat and his arm covers up a wound on his chest. He has a pistol in his left hand, which is slightly shaking, maybe due to what happened down here.
