Charlotte chewed on her bottom lip while waiting on the dock, her dark eyes scanning for the mystery man. A chill iced her veins as a cool breeze blew in from the ocean. She huddled more into her jumper and nudged Ava next to her. A heavy bank of fog obscured their ocean view, the thick wall giving the shore a creepy vibe.

"Where is the bloke? We've been waitin' for an hour now." Charlotte complained, leaning against the wooden railing. She blew hair out of her eyes with a huff.

Ava sighed, "I'm beginnin' to think we've been had," The brunette folded her arms over her chest.

She yanked her beanie further down her ears and continued to scope the dimly lit dock. The day had turned to night, leaving the two women standing under the lights that lit the dock. Waves splashed against the posts underneath, the rhythm helping Charlotte to calm her nerves. Sounds of the ocean had always been calming, even under the worst circumstances, like now. Whoever they were supposed to make the exchange with had yet to show his face.

"Lucas is a bit gone for this bloody bullshit. It's fuckin' cold!" Ava hissed in annoyance. She screwed her mouth up and started to pace back and forth, blowing into her cupped hands. "I hate the cold," the woman spat with a hearty scoff.

The boards creaked somewhere in the fog, startling both women. They huddled together, their breathing increasing with every creak.

Something heavy approached that formed into a tall shadow in the fog. Twin-yellow eyes flashed from within the shadow as it came closer. A soft clicking followed it, a strange, unearthly sound. It was one they were used to hearing thanks to their integrated society, but for it to come from a literal fucking shadow?

Charlotte swallowed a lump that rose in her throat as the shadow emerged from the fog, revealing a two-hundred and thirteen-centimeter-tall yautja. He loomed over the women when he stopped a few steps away. They both had to crane their necks to see his masked face. A rolling click emanated from his throat when he cocked his head to the side. His shoulder-length locs swung around with the cat-like motion of his head.

Unlike most yautja Charlotte had ever seen, he wore trousers and a puffer jacket that showed how broad his body was. He wore a black and green coat with fluffy white fur lining the edge of the hood, while his trousers were baggy and soft, reminding her of winter joggers. His clawed hands and feet, however, were left bare. She found the sight strangely out of place.

"Well? You got the package?" The yautja rumbled, gesturing to the both of them.

"O-Oh! Yeah, mate!" Charlotte stammered, digging out the small, tightly wrapped package from her purse. She cast Ava a nervous side eye as she made the exchange, her fingers brushing the alien male's textured hide. "They never told me we were supposed to meet with a yautja."

Ava just stared up at him with an open mouth, her expression one of worry.

The mystery bloke flipped over the tightly wrapped package in his hands, carefully holding it so as not to shred the delicate paper with his black claws. Both women waited in a nervous quiet while he inspected it. A few long, agonizing seconds dragged out until he grunted in acceptance, instantly washing their fears away.

"It's acceptable." The male rumbled, stuffing it into an internal pocket of his jacket before quickly disappearing into the fog just as he came.

They stood in the spot briefly until Ava whistled, "Crikey, they're so..."

Charlotte scoffed, "You're not havin' a naughty with a yautja, Ava."

"It certainly won't be a lollie I'll be suckin'," She winked with a smirk, already marching back to the car park.

Shaking her head, Charlotte caught up to her, her boots pounding on the creaky boards of the dock, "You're mad! I swear! There's no way it would work." She snorted in amusement. She couldn't fathom the possibility of it working between a human and a yautja.

"Stop yabberin'! Macca's has a Big Mac with my name on it, so hurry up! I'm starvin'!" Ava snickered, already yanking the door open on her car. She had the shine in her eyes of a woman with food on her mind. Charlotte could only sigh heavily and rush to join her in the warm car.

She ignored the comments about food and buckled herself in before turning to Ava with a frown, "He could be a criminal!"

Again, Ava waved her off, "And? We just delivered some rando alien who-knows-what! That might make us criminals, too!"

"Maybe Lucas is a criminal..." Charlotte worried, her anxiety rising as Ava rolled her beater out of the car park.

"We probably delivered condoms or somethin'," Ava shrugged, turning the dial for the heat on high. The windshield had started to fog from the temperature difference. "Why whinge over it?"

"I just..." She searched for the words that tangled on her tongue, leaning back into the seat with a huff. "Maybe I'm just hungry, mate."

Ava grinned wickedly in defeat, "Do you want a sundae with your Maccas? That should cheer you right up."

"In this weather..."

"Yes! It's never too cold for ice cream!"

Charlotte relented with a final sigh, "Fine, but I want the strawberry sundae." she jabbed a finger at Ava with raised eyebrows.

Her best mate led them to the warm, promised land of Maccas, where they'd warm their bodies and fill their bellies with juicy burgers and greasy fries, the pair already working on forgetting the strange evening they had.

A/N: If you didn't read the description, this takes place in an alternate universe modern Australia. I talked with a few Aussies to make sure I got things right as far as slang, lingo, and that stuff.

Once I finish uploading the chapters I already have up on Ao3 to here, it'll receive slow updates just like on Ao3. This is a side project where I write one shots for it, each chapter will be each of those, and therefor it won't get consistent updates. I hope y'all enjoy the surprise updates! Hehe. There's a lot I want to tell about these two. Make sure you follow me so you can stay up to date on uploads. ❤️
