2006.It's a late autumn afternoon, the sun filtering through the tall trees surrounding the traditional style flared tiled roofs and weathered wooden pillars of the jujutsu high campus.
A few spots of light shone into my dorm window, falling onto his face and accentuating his ocean blue eyes, the eyes that always seemed to brighten when I looked into them, eyes I'd recognize in another universe, eyes I know I could never forget no matter how much I tried. His tousled white hair sprawled on my pillow from underneath him as he laid on my beaten mattress in the him shaped dent he'd long since made.
Satoru.
I listen to the sound of the rain falling against the stone path outside, and the steady beat of the ball he's absentmindedly throwing up in the air and catching. I turn to face him, holding my face up with my palm, strands of h/c hair threatening to fall from behind my ear. I take in his expression, he looks at ease, which makes me glad since he always seems to be busy with missions or tasks.
It bothers me really, it's like he isn't seen as a person, just "the strongest", the Gojo Satoru, a protector and nothing else. Not my Satoru. My thoughts are interrupted with the sound of the ball being thrown up again. I lean on my elbow and with a quick motion grab the ball before he can catch it, my lips forming a tiny smirk. A small chuckle escapes him as his eyes flit over to meet mine.
"Wanna do something?" I ask lazily as I throw the ball up and use a bit of cursed energy to flick it across the room, it lands in a random laundry basket in the corner. His eyes follow the ball and a grin stretches across his face as he looks back at me again.
"I could go for ramune." He replies, supporting himself on his elbows.
I look out the window at the rain, it's definitely picked up, puddles quickly forming in the uneven areas of the ground, the trees thrashing around in the wind. The closest konbini is about a kilometer away...
I shrug and turn back to face him.
"Sure." I roll off the bed onto my feet, picking up a sweater off the floor and slipping it on over the undershirt of my school uniform.
"My treat." I grab my wallet and go to put my shoes on.
Satoru grabs his sunglasses off my nightstand and steps outside with me as we make our way down the hallway of the mostly empty girls dormitory.
We walk shoulder to shoulder... sort of. He's got a few inches on me.
I look up at him, he's not wearing his sunglasses, they're tucked into his uniform. I kinda feel bad for making him come over right after school without changing, but he never complains when we're together. He also never wears his sunglasses around me, and I know his eyes hurt from using his six eyes all the time. He notices me staring and tilts his head down to look at me, his familiar smirk on his face.
"What are you looking at?" His smirk turns into a smile, his perfect teeth on display.
"Your dumb face." I respond flatly, nudging him teasingly and looking away, the urge to smile fighting to take over.
I hear his snicker and then feel contact as he nudges me back. I laugh and nudge him again, except I'm stopped mere centimeters from hitting him. His infinity. My eyes widen in amusement and my smile grows.
"You're the worst." I try to poke him even though I know it's futile.
"You love me." He says smugly, his expression perfectly matching his tone as he looks dead in my eyes.
"Tch." I walk ahead, right into the rain. I exhale, it's coming down hard, but it feels liberating. The wind blows my hair back as the rain starts to soak it.
