First chapter, guys.
Enjoy!
★Falling in love is one thing but falling in love with someone who ignores you is another kind of feeling entirely. A very difficult feeling at that.
I have noticed I have a type. I have my type and the type God keeps pushing to me.
I want me a dark skinned boy but God keeps pushing them light skins my way. I want me a guy who's so into me and doesn't fail to show it but God keeps pushing the nonchalant alpha male ones my way.
Did I offend you, Lord?
"Chichi!" My mom shouted from downstairs snapping me out of my thoughts. "Get your lazy self down here right now. You're going to be late." She added.
"5 minutes please, I have to style my hair properly.!" I yelled back.
I finished with my hair, took a quick look at my self in the mirror. I looked good.
Satisfied with how I looked, I picked my things and ran to the dinning room.
"Ensure to be of good behaviour, babies. It's a new session, remember, prioritize your studies, okay?" Mom said to my brother and I. "Yes mom." My brother, Charlie replied. "Did you hear me, Chimso?" She asked me. "Yes mom, we're always of good behaviour." I replied not wanting a morning lecture on how I'm "growing wings" which she is gonna cut off.
African mothers.
★ ★ ★After dropping Charlie in his school, I drove to mine. My best friends, Darla and Yasmine were already waiting for me in the parking lot. I took deep breaths before coming out of my car. I get really anxious when I'm out of my house, especially in school.
"Hey Chichi." Yasmine said with a smile as she hugged me excitedly. "Yas baby, you look different." I said to her. "A good kind though." I added. Darla hugged me as well then said, "right? I thought I was just seeing things." Yasmine looks prettier, her skin got clear over the summer. "My cousin got me the best skin care products when she came visiting. I had a confidence boost." She said. "That's so nice of her. Now I'm no longer the one with the perfect skin" I said in a fake sad tone. "No babe, yours is natural and I'd kill for that." Yas said. "For real, imagine you start using skin care products? Girl." Darla said.
"Shall we go in?" Darla asked. "We shall."
"I don't understand shit." I grumbled. We were having our last class before lunch break. Math. "It's only the first day of school, Chi." Yasmine said to me. "I hate math." I said without turning my attention from the board. I was staring like I understood, God knows I don't.
"I encourage each and everyone of you to put in so much efforts in your school work this year, be it homeworks, tests, quizzes and all have them. No assignment today being first day. Have a nice day ahead." Our teacher, Mr Gregory said then left the class as he heard the bell.
Fucking finally!!!
My friends and I finally got seated in our spot at the cafeteria. Darla and Yasmine got food from school while as for me, I had home made lunch because yeah, my mother is my mother. She feels food from school here isn't that good. I'm okay with bringing lunch from home though, it was also to the advantage of my friends.
I scanned the cafeteria hoping I'll catch a glimpse of him, but him and his friends are no where to be found. They weren't in class either.
"Look, he just walked in." Darla said nodding towards the door. He just walked in with his friends.
Him missing classes wasn't new. At all.
"I don't care, really." I said to her. "Girl please, spare me the pretence. I literally saw you scanning the room for him. You always do that." She said. "Darla, come on." I said wanting her to drop the topic but Darla is Darla. "You're falling for this guy harder each passing week." She said.
"Are we talking about him?" Yasmine asked finally turning her attention from her food. She doesn't joke with her food. "Yeah, she's gone, like literally gone. The guy no longer even speak to you." Darla said.
We stopped talking a couple of months ago, rather, he stopped talking to me. I don't know why but yeah, it is what it is. Honestly, that fact drives me nuts. I only get to look at him, that's all.
"How come you all of a sudden like this guy this much. It wasn't like this a couple months ago." Yas said. "I don't know, really, I don't know." I admit. "Hopefully it's a stupid phase, I wanna get passed it already. It's draining." I said.
As we continued with our small talks (after the topic successfully changed), Sebastian, my closest guy friend since I got here, came over to our table, "Pretty girls." He said as usual with a smile. "What do you want Seb?" I asked dryly. "You're so good at hiding your excitement whenever you see me, Chichi." He said. "Oh please. What's exciting about your annoying presence??" I said rolling my eyes then I laughed, "how are you you today, though?" I asked him. I always ensure to ask about his well being because at the beginning time when I knew this boy, he wasn't as bright as this, he was like a kid who felt the entire world is against him until I came into his life. Kudos to me. "I'm okay, really. Just tired of school already." He replied. "I feel you, bro. I see why we make good friends." I said. "Lazy attitude towards your education isn't a good thing." Yasmine said. "Everybody isn't you, Yassy." Sebastian said. "Don't call me that." Yasmine said then adjusted her hijab. Seb chuckled then took the chicken I was about to eat, "Catch you girls later and thanks for the chicken, love." Seb said then walked away. "It's poisoned." I said not caring if he couldn't hear me.
I love how quickly came to an end today. This is not one of those first days of school where I'm so excited. I lowkey am though, it's my last first day. This time next year I'll be in college away from this hell hole.
After my friends and I kept our things in our lockers, we went to the parking lot, I said my good bye and turned towards my car.
Getting to my car, I saw him standing close by making a call. I didn't realize I was staring until he spoke to me. "What's good, Chichi, been a while." He said giving me that smile of his. "Uhm.. Hi...hi you. Been a minute." Fuck I'm nervous. What the actual???
"How've yo_" his friend, Joe had to call his name. "Coming bro." He left. Just like that.
Could've said 'bye' or 'later'.Well, he spoke to me.
