MYA

"You remember to pack the Gatorade right?" Lilah asked as she walked along side me. "It was our turn to bring the drinks this week."

Deacon and Victoria walk ahead of us, the four of us ready to support Lilah at her soccer game.

It's been two weeks since Deacon and I got back together and everything couldn't be more perfect. I'd wake up early to make him breakfast and He'd kiss me in the morning before going off to work for the day, I'd spend time with the girls once Lilah came home from school and at night Deacon would crawl into bed next to me and for the next few hours all that was heard were his grunts and my sighs of pleasure.

Like I said, perfect.

"Yes, I remember. I got the lemon lime flavor because that's the one you said you liked right?"

"Right. Thanks again Mya. You're the best." Lilah gave me quick hug before she ran to catch up with her dad. She gave him a quick hug too before she ran off towards her friends. It was the last game of the season, so understandably so, she was excited.

"I'd say she's excited." Deacon comments as he pulls Victoria's stroller to a stop at the perfect spot where we could see Lilah perfectly.

"She's excited about the trophy they're all getting." I giggled. I'm pretty sure I saw her clearing off space on her bookshelf for it.

"That explains it." Deacon chuckles before he gets to work on fixing our foldable chairs on a shady spot. I'm suddenly hit with a sense of Deja vu as I remember the last time we were here.

The last time we were here one of the mom's was hitting on Deacon and since we weren't exactly sure of what we were and trying to hide what we were doing, Deacon agreed to go on a date and I left the game upset.

That was almost three months ago. Deacon and I were more stronger now and our relationship was defined. He was boyfriend and I was his girlfriend. And yeah, it was still weird for my parents and the team, but they'd get use it.

I wasn't letting Deacon go again.

"Hey," Deacon's voice snapped me out of my reverie. "You okay?"

"I'm fine." I smile, hoping like hell he believed me. I was okay. I was. But I was also a little nervous. Without Lilah to distract me I was able to notice the looks of the other soccer moms; some were on me-- those were the less than friendly ones and others were on Deacon-- the moms still wore the same lustful gazes they had last time.

Something's never changed.

"Are you sure?" A knot begin form between Deacon's brows. I let my eyes roam over his dark jacket, shirt, and jeans, taking a second to appreciate the way the fabric stretches across this defined chest before squeezing his hand.

"I'm fine Deacon." I reassure him before I tell him I'm gonna grab us a couple coffees before the game starts while he monitors Victoria.

"Oh, you're back!" I squint against the rays of the sun just in time to make out the Candace athletic figure in a pair of cotton shorts and matching cropped hoodie.

"I am. Did you miss me?" I returned her fake smile with one of my own.

"Not as much as Deacon did, I'm sure. He must be thrilled to have help with the girls again."

"He is." I turn back around to face the coffee cart when I get a tap on my shoulder.

"Mya, right? Can I ask you question? You know- woman to... girl."

Did she just...?

I bite the inside of my cheek to keep me from reacting. I wasn't going to stoop to her level. It just proved that age didn't always mean maturity.

"Sure Candace."

"Do you think Deacon is interested?" She wonders. "I've been flirting with him all season and he hasn't taken the bait. Should I cut my losses?"

Yes.

"I've known Deacon for a long time and I trust me when I tell you he needs a little nudge for him to get the hint," I tell her. "Tell you what, why don't you come over and ask him out once you have your coffee? There's nothing I want more than to see the look on your face when he give you an answer." And before she can ask what I mean I step up to the cart and tell them my order.

"What's got you smiling?" Deacon asked when I come back with his coffee.

"Just something called retribution." I bring the coffee to my lips.

Before he can ask me what I mean, Candace comes over.

"Candace, Hi." Deacon greets her, polite as ever.

"Hi David. Listen, would you like to go out with me sometimes?"

"I'm flattered Candace, really I am. But I have a girlfriend."

"Really? Who?" Her eyes ping pong between Deacon and I.

"Me." I answer before I leaned in and kissed Deacon. It wasn't a light one either. It was full on French and I didn't care if we were in the presence of kids. Candace face is flushed red with fury and maybe a little embarrassment. "Oh, and Candace?" I call out to her before she can stomp away. "If I catch you flirting with David again I will drag you up and down this soccer field." I warn her.

"Did you just threaten someone in front of me? Are you forgetting I'm a cop?" Deacon asked once Candace stormed away with her mouth open.

"Did I threaten her? I was merely stating a fact." I shrugged. "And I didn't forget that you're a cop. Especially when your handcuffs were on me last night."

"Mya." He scolds me.

"What?" I gave my best pouty face and as expected, Deacon relented and place a hand on my cheek.

"What am I going to do with you?" Deacon asked, staring at me with equal parts curiosity and awe and love.

Always with love.

"Whatever you want Mr. Kay. Whatever you want."
