After Jackson had proposed we had celebrated with some champagne and dessert. I was beyond excited for this next chapter and sleeping that night had been nearly impossible as I kept envisioning and thinking about planning for our big day.

Now almost a week later I was still on cloud nine, we had spent the week just soaking in the Engagement. Little dates at home, small gifts, cuddling and watching movies and sex, lots of sex, we had been going at it like rabbits. He had been so thoughtful and romantic the whole week that it had only furthered the excitement of marrying the love of my life and now it was my turn to return the favor.

I had put in to leave work early so I would have time to go grocery shopping and get dinner and dessert started for Jackson, he had been working so hard and putting in so much over time while still finding time for us and I had to show him how appreciative I was and what better way than cooking his favorite meal? While at the grocery store I grabbed all the ingredients to make a cheese cake and lasagna, two of his favorites. I debated texting him asking him to be home on the earlier side but decided against it as he promised me last night that he would be home on time tonight. I made my way to the apartment pulling into my spot in the lot. I grabbed the bags and made my way to our door. As I approached I heard some moans and cringed. It wasn't uncommon for us to hear a neighbor or two having sex at random hours, it was a beautiful building but the walls were thin, so I really didn't think twice about the sounds.

That was until I swung our door open and I was met with the sight of my Fiancé's shoes, along with his shirt on the floor and a pair of red heels next to them. I felt the urge to vomit or scream, or maybe both but I did my best to hold it in. Despite my fight or flight kicking in and telling me to run I gently placed my groceries down as to not give away that I was here and made my way towards the bedroom. I made sure to be as quiet as I could and sure enough as I approached the door the sound of moans and groans that I had heard from outside started up again.

"Oh Fuck Nina.." My husband's groan cut through the over the top moans and my heart dropped as I tried to think about where I had heard that name before. Nina... the same name that had popped up on his phone multiple times this past week. The same person he told me was an assistant at the office covering for him while his normal assistant Tabitha was out. Without hesitating anymore and having all the proof I needed I flung the door open.

"What the actual FUCK Jackson...." I screamed my voice stuck from the lump in my throat as I fought back tears. Jackson shot up eyes wide while the girl who I had unfortunately learned was named Nina continued to ride him her eyes meeting mine briefly before Jackson pushed her off of him.

"Amelia, baby wait..." Jackson was jumping out of bed and throwing on sweatpants as I began to pack a bag doing my best not to look at my now half naked husband nor the fully naked girl in our bed.

"Wait for what?" I snapped. "So you can tell me all about how it isn't what it seemed, or there's more to it, or that you're so sorry..." I yelled and Jackson physically flinched which wasn't surprising as I hardly ever raised my voice.

"Baby...." His voice was soft as if he thought it was going to calm me down and I rolled my eyes.

"Save it Jackson... You're a fucking prick. You asked me to marry you a week ago... and now I find you in bed with some other girl... I'm leaving for at least a couple nights and when or if I return... I expect all traces of this SKANK to be gone....." I spoke my eyes finally meeting his to show I was serious and I could tell he was nervous. "And don't bother texting or calling.... I don't want to speak to you.." I added before grabbing my bag and a few of my needed items and rushing back out to my car.

Once in my car I let the tears begin to fall freely. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that the perfect guy that I had gotten engaged to only a week ago was cheating on me. I started to rack my brain for any signs that things were off. Sure he was on his phone a bit more but he wasn't secretive about it, always a quick text then back down. He also had habit of telling me who he was texting and what was being said. And our sex life? The one they say is always a dead give away because it becomes almost non existent? It was normal, in fact it was almost better than normal. And work..... all those extra hours. It finally hit me and I felt STUPID. He wasn't working extra hours. I felt sick at the realization: his job had never require over time before, but the last few weeks maybe even months it had. I didn't think twice about it thinking he was trying to save money for a ring but now? I had no doubt he had been actually spending time with her.

I took my phone out to call Sheila but it went to voicemail. I cursed realizing it was a Wednesday which meant she was most likely working double duty at the hospital with her phone in the locker. Unsure of where to go I made my way  to the local coffee shop doing my best to hold my tears back.
"Here goes nothing" I sighed grabbing my computer and my wallet and making my way inside ignoring the fact that I probably looked like hell. I wasn't sure what I was going to do now but I knew for sure that I would have to start looking for apartments because there was NO way in hell I was willing to stay where Jackson had brought his little side piece. Especially not after finding them together in our bed.
Finding an open table I dropped my laptop down before heading to the counter to order myself a coffee and sandwich. Paying more attention to my thoughts than where I was going I managed to bump into the person in front of me.
"I'm so sorry" I muttered pausing when the person turned around an amused look on their face.
"Do you make it a habit to bump into strangers? Or are you trying to get my attention?" The familiar voice teased arching a brow at me and I felt my cheeks flush. "First you trip infront of me then trip into me?" He had a smirk plastered on his face and I immediately noticed the difference in his mood, he had seemed so dark and brooding last time, but now? He seemed light and almost happy.
"I'm so sorry about the other day. I was in a rush and I guess I just lost my footing..." the guy stared at me like I had two heads.
"And today?" He questioned his eyes piercing mine and I felt my cheeks flush again as my eyes left his and I focused on the ground. "Okay no need to answer that." Surprised yet thankful my eyes met his again and I watched as he took in my appearance, focusing on my face and hair then my outfit and his smile faltered for a split second.
"Thanks" I muttered embarrassed at how disastrous I probably looked. I watched intently as he stepped up towards the counter. I hadn't realized it before but he was tall standing at maybe 6'2 6'3, a giant compared to my short statute of  5'4
"One large hot coffee black please, and uh..." he turned to me catching me off guard "what would you like" he questioned and I shook my head.
"Oh you don't have to." I spoke and he stared at me. His look alone was enough to tell me that he was probably used to getting his way and if I didn't order in the next few seconds he was going to order something for me statute.
"Oh Uhm a small iced caramel latte please..." I ordered ditching the idea of getting a sandwich or something food related on the stranger's dime. "Thank you" I turned to him doing my best to put a smile on my face. Instead of him smiling back he just nodded his head a stoic look on his face. Without another word he paid before heading over to his booth as I made my way back to my own table.
I opened my laptop to start the apartment search however after a few seconds my eyes couldn't help but drift up to the stranger thankful that he appeared glued to his phone.
While the coffee shop was a casual place this man looked anything but. He wore black dress pants and a black dress shirt rolled up reveling a few tattoos that littered his arm. His brown hair was kept short on the sides and a little longer on the top which he kept tame with gel. As I was admiring him his eyes flew up from his phone meeting mine and I gulped before bringing my eyes back to my computer.
"Order for Ryder." The baristas voice sounded over the shop and I watched as the stranger stood up from his booth his eyes meeting mine and he tilted his head towards me. I looked him over once again and a small smile came over me.
"Thank you" I had made my way over to the counter just in time for him to turn around both drinks in his hand and a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"You're so welcome....." he froze and I knew he was waiting for my name and I sighed.
"Amelia" I finished for him and he smiled satisfactorily
"Well then you are so welcome Amelia" he nodded handing me my drink before turning back to his booth without another word.
