Octavia;//-P.O.V-
It had been a week and i still have not come up with a good original cake recipe.
Groaning inwardly, i put my head on the cool metallic kitchen counter top and sighed. I'll never be able to get my recipe done at this rate. My Rainboom cake was supposed to be colourful looking and have a burst of flavour in one's mouth.
BUT WHAT FLAVOUR?
My mind was about to explode due to the amount of stress I am putting on myself. I have tried layering each cake layer with normal buttered whipping cream but Blaze told me it was too boring, and he wanted something more exciting. The next batch i put in some nutella but Blaze told me he had tasted it somewhere else before.
It has also been a week since Cadence came by and nearly started a fight with Angie. The both of them have been coming in everyday, sitting at their original position, ordering Blaze's speciality, shooting glares at each other and of course, to ogle at Blaze.
But of course on Thursday, Angie and Cadence broke out into a huge argument and it just had to be when Blaze wasn't in. He had ran out to get some more coffee beans from the supplier since the delivery guy called in to tell him that their van just broke down. Cadence had been asking Blaze on questions for her homework and being the nice guy he is, he couldn't refuse. I have to admit, Cadence deserves one point for doing that because every single time she asks him a tough question, he would have to spend more time thinking and this gives Cadence the chance to stare at him more, much to Angie's disgust.
But Angie had a backup plan and always managed to get Blaze's attention by pretending to be interested in what kind of coffee beans brand were used to make the coffee and asking tips and tricks for doing latte art. Hearing how interested Angie sounded, Blaze would happily tell her everything she needed to know about coffee and latte art, much to Cadence annoyance.
Luckily Eliza stepped into the midst of their name calling and simply told them that Blaze did not like uncivilised, vulgar and violent woman. That did the trick they they both shut up immediately, continuing to do their own business. I guess impressing Blaze and trying to be Blaze's perfect dream woman was very important to them.
Lucas decided that Cadence was not 'the one' and kept ranting to us about how he would never find true love, and then a story of how his pervious ex-girlfriends had viciously ripped his heart out of his chest, threw it on the ground and stomped all over it smashing it into fine pieces. Which led to him touching an emotional nerve and then hiding in the washroom for a good half an hour to cry it all out. Eliza was doing her part in comforting him and telling him that the right person would be out there and some other motivational crap that actually helped Lucas get back on his feet. Eliza has always been good with words apparently.
I wiped the sweat off my forehead and glanced at the clock. It has been half an hour past closing time and the only people left in the cafe were Blaze and I. Lucas and Eliza had left 5 minutes earlier after cleaning everything up and Blaze was probably going to work late into the night in his office. Throwing the mixing bowls and baking utensils into the sink, i started to wash up.
"Hey, you done?" I heard Blaze say and i look up to see him leaning against the counter. I shake my head and he smirks as he looks at the amount of cookery that i have to clean up.
His next sentence caught me off guard. "Do you need any help?" Blaze has never once offered to help out with washing and cleaning up. He always leaves it to us to do it. I blink in surprise as he doesn't wait for my answer and rolls up his sleeves and then starts lathering the cups.
"You gonna help me or are you just going to gawk at me the whole night? I don't know about you but i want to head home early." A small smile plays on his lips as i flushed a deep red before helping him out.
Oh, so he was offering his help only because he wanted to head home early..?
I chewed on my lower lip as we worked in silence. Him lathering the items in soap and me rinsing them off. Minutes went by and before i know it, we were already done.
I glanced at the clock and my eyes grew wide by looking at the time. It was already midnight and there were no more buses available at this timing. I turned to Blaze sheepishly and he looked at me questioningly.
"Uh, i was just wondering," I rubbed the back of my neck. "Is it possible that you bring me home?"
Blaze raised an eyebrow at me as i stumble to find the right words. "Well, i mean because look at the time, no buses are available anymore and it's highly impossible that i walk in the cold night because then i would freeze to death and I'm pretty sure if you were a caring manager and friend and co-worker you wouldn't want to see me freeze to death am i right? Then who would come in to work the next day because if i die at night-"
"Woah okay hold up chatter box, I'll give you a lift home, don't worry." He chuckles and opens the cafe door that leads to small flight of stairs with it's handrails entwined with adorning flowers. I waited as Blaze locked the door while chattering about random things. The street lamps shone dimly as we made our way to the car park.
"I hope you're not afraid of motorcycles." He taunted, his lips formed into a smirk as he glanced over at me.
My ears perked up. "Wait, did you say motorcycles? I thought you have a car?"
He shrugs casually. "I have both."
I chewed nervously on my lower lip as he inserted the keys into his bike and started up the engine. Handing me a helmet, i slipped it on and climbed onto the huge bike. How bad could riding a bike be right? I've heard people say how thrilling it is to ride a bike and how fun it was.
"Hold on to me tightly, like this." He then pulls my arms to wrap around his torso and i stiffen. My arms were around his sternum. His muscular body. The sound of my thoughts were louder than the sound of the bike's engine.
I am having physical contact with Blaze, and it's freaking me out.
"Uh, I think i rather walk home." I started to speak. "Thanks anyway."
"Nope, can't hear you!" Blaze crackle as we sped of at high speed into the night.
"Please slow down!" I screamed over to him and clutched onto him tightly for dear life. The bike whizzed by the road so quickly that i felt like throwing up.
"What?"
"Slow down Blaze!"
"Go faster? Okay!" I could imagine an evil smirk on his face as he stepped on the gas pedal.
Finally, after what seemed like eternity, we arrived at my doorstep. It wasn't much, just a tiny apartment since i lived all by myself. I quickly ripped the helmet off my head and tried to tidy my hair that was sticking all over the place. He looks at me in amusement as i frantically try to fix my unruly hair.
"Did you enjoy the ride? I'm pretty sure you were screaming out in joy just now right?"
I glared angrily at him. "Goodnight Blaze, thanks for the horrible ride and i hope you step on a lego brick sooner or later." I then shove the helmet back into his arms and he just laughs.
"Goodnight Octavia, rest well." I just gave him the stink eye before turning around to my apartment.
But with every step i took, i still felt his cool burning gaze linger till i was out of his sight.
