I officially hate school! Okay that's a lie. I officially hate school without Will.

Today was the first day back at school since winter break and all of my teachers have decided to give us a tone of work and expect it done in a week.

To make things even worse in social studies we have been given an assignment to look at industry you are interested in working in after high school. I know that doesn't sound too bad but wait till you hear the rest. This project isn't something we do ourselves we have to work with a partner. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem because I always worked with Will but not this time. No now that he's being home schooled I was stuck with Jacob Donne. The biggest bully in the class and the one no one want to work with because they know they will have to do all of the work.

The thing is that's not even the worst part. When I told Jacob I wanted to do the project on the music industry he laughed in my face and told me that in no uncertain terms were we not doing that but that we (more like me and put his name on it) were doing the project on the work of race car drivers.

If I had been anyone but myself, I would have laughed in his face right back and told him down right no but I was me, which meant that I sat quietly and thought of ideas of how to approach the subject.

I left that lesson feeling utterly betrayed by my best friend who had left me to fend for myself in the hell hole that we call Lincoln High School. Luckily for me it was lunch time and I had the opportunity to vent my feelings.

Once I reached the outside courtyard, I pulled my phone from my bag and dialled Will's number.

"Hello." He answered the call.

"Hello you vial betrayer."

"Vial betrayer. You sound like something out of an old movie. What have I done now?"

"You have left me all alone in social studies, leaving me to be partnered up with Jacob Dunne and write a project on the racing industry." I said, very annoyed.

"Ha ha ha ha ha!" He laughed at me.

"It's not funny."

"Yes it is. But why racing?"

"We have to write an assignment on an industry we want to work in after high school and of course I wanted to do the music industry but Jacob told me we were doing racing and me being me didn't say a single word."

"I don't blame you, that guy is a complete thug."

"He's more than a thug he's an asshole."

"Brina!" He complained.

"What? He is and you know it."

"Yeah alright."

"I better go get something to eat before it all goes." I said, feeling my stomach rumble.

"Hey, I'm sorry you didn't have anyone to work with."

"It's okay. I missed you being here though."

"It's weird but I miss being there too."

"I'm not surprised. You are such a geek."

"Nothing wrong with that." He laughed.

"I'll text you later." I told him, when my stomach gave a tremendous roar.

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye."

I ended the call and headed into the cafeteria, where I grabbed a tray and picked up a sandwich and an apple.
