~ Let's meet again, for the first time~It's a beautiful day, the morning after Christmas. A boy with shining green eyes is sitting in a yellow chair-it belongs to Miss Lawrence's cafe set at the corner of the street outside-hands folded on the table adorning a black and white striped cloth. His left leg is bouncing in anticipation, teeth pulling at the lower lip. He looks around him for the thousandth time, it's still empty. The road is quiet except for a few people opening their shops. Even the cafe is quiet today, no customers are inside or outside unlike him. It's Christmas break after all. It's time for family and friends, to relax and be surrounded by your loved ones.
'Loved ones '
The word does something to the young heart of the boy and he smiles ruefully before shaking his pink beanie-he didn't forget it this time- covered head. The air is cold, reminiscence of the heavy snow from last night which is still covering the sides of roads. There are few red and green Christmas lights still flickering on in the light of the day. The boy taps his left foot yet again, his brown boots making a clicking sound on the concrete floor. He looks down in his lap, hands folded and tucked into the black coat he is wearing today. His green eyes fall on the shining metal on his finger peaking through the coat from where it failed to completely cover his hands. Teeth pull at the lower lip a little harsher before hands come out of their hiding. Gently, the boy takes the ring off of his finger. He raises it high and turns it round, it's a bit rusty now unlike before when it was given to him. His thumb grazes the letters engraved on it's inside.
'Forever, L' it says.
'Always, H' was on the other ring, the one he gave to the blue eyed boy.
It was 7 years from now, when they had exchanged these rings, they had exchanged them under a tree, among fairy lights, soft kisses and whispers of 'i love yous'. These were the gifts for their 2nd year anniversary. 2 years of being together and each other's. It was a promise to stay together 'always' and 'forever'. None of them at the time would have thought that they would end like this. That one day one of them would just leave without any answers. That they would be left broken like this. They would be strangers like this.
A sad smile tugs at the pink lips, "forever" the boy whispers out loud. The word sounds foreign now, it sounds foreign to the lips that used to mummer it everyday to their lover. It was just there, between them, because they were meant to be 'forever' .
There is a sound of clicking shoes, snow making crunching sound under them. Eyebrows knit a little in confusion before green eyes are fleeting around. They look around with concentration. There is a small group of people scattered on the road, the boy notices unlike the quiet earlier. Pink tongue pokes out to lick at the dry lips and the boy sits a little straighter, eyes more focused on the people around until...
until they fall on him .
And he...
'He is still beautiful' is what the boy thinks first.
He is walking down, among the crowd. Head ducked low, he still has the same hairstyle, a little longer, a soft fringe set on his forehead, he notices.
"I like your hair!"
A rhythmic laugh greets his ears and he smiles cheekily to himself with blushed cheeks. "Why, thank you Harry. I actually quite like yours" the boy with blue eyes sitting in front of him in the dainty cafe chair says, his eyes still crinkling in the corners and Harry loves them so much.
"Hmmm... actually my mate was saying to me that I should cut mine a bit" the boy adds next, hands abandoning the plastic spoon he was using to stir his tea as he touches his fringe critically.
