THIRD PERSON POV

Early in the morning the day starts like any other Saturday with the sun rising. Yet this time the dawn seems to wake the entire world.

Lance has been awake all night, drinking energy drinks to stay alert as he waits in the waiting area. Keith has been slumped on his shoulder for many hours, eyes fluttering open when light penetrates the large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Shiro comes out just as the boys stretch for the day, seven in the morning feeling like four. "Boys." He takes a moment to breathe deeply, "he's supposed to have the baby soon. The doctors turned the baby successfully and they should be on the way soon. You're allowed to come back for this part."

The older man has on dark blue scrubs, grey medical gloves, and a blue medical mask in his hand. He's all geared up and sanitary for the birth of his first born. In a sense it feels like his second, him practically raising Keith.

Lance helps Keith up from his seat. They buy junk food from the vending machines before following Shiro into the back hallways. The walls are the same sterile white, the floor is paved with grey tile, and the ceiling is made of those tiles you'd see in a school or government building.

They turn left down a hallway, then left again, most of the halls being almost silent except for a few babies crying in closed rooms. Shiro drops the boys off with a women who helps them get geared up as he rushes back to be with his husband.

"I'm so worried." Keith squeezes Lance's hand. For some reason the comforting effect isn't there as much because of the gloves, the omega already aching for the skin-on-skin connection they normally have.

"They're going to be okay, baby. Adam is so strong and he will do amazing. And that baby has Shiro's blood, they'll probably come out already looking like a miniature body builder with his genes." Lance jests to lighten the mood and Keith giggles a little as they enter the room. It's loud behind the closed doors.

Adam sobs and yells at Shiro for putting him through this amount of pain, wishing for it to be over and the baby to be in his arms already. A string of 'fuck you's leave his lips when Shiro kisses his hand.

Even his pheromones spell out how pissed he is in bold letters, pain being less evident in his scent than the sheer anger. Keith stays close to Lance's side whilst both of them imagine themselves in this situation in only a matter of months. Worry and fear consume them both needlessly as they watch the scene unfold.

At nine in the morning a beautiful baby comes out of Adam, screaming almost as loudly as their mother. It's a common thing for omegas of any gender to be referenced as the mother and alphas to be referenced as the father regardless the gender of the parent.

Adam is now a mother.

"It's a boy?" Adam squeaks, happily taking his baby for skin-on-skin bonding. "My boy is so pretty."

"He's gorgeous." Keith adds onto the statement. Now he and Lance are feeling a bit more reassured, knowing that nothing went wrong and it'd be the same for them. "So I'm, what, an uncle now?"

"I think he's your brother." Shiro chuckles, watching his husband and son. "I can't believe he came out so tiny. Only five pounds."

Keith doesn't argue with Shiro whether he's an uncle or a brother. Nothing matter in the moment other than everyone's exhaustion and health.

By ten everyone is asleep. Lance and Keith are laying on a number of chairs, cuddling for warmth. Shiro is leaned against the wall, holding Adam's hand as he sleeps, and Adam is resting with the baby boy in a bassinet. Finally, everyone's exhausted is being sated.

It's four in the afternoon when everyone is awake again. They're bickering over a name for the precious boy, Adam having very little input and mostly only staring at his newborn son.

"Shut your mouths. I birthed the kid, I name the kid." Adam finalizes when it's apparent that they'll never quit without intervention. It was as if everyone was addicted to the argument, attempting to come up with more and more baby names without an end in sight.

Kerberos is going to be the baby's middle name, a reference to his father's last mission when he was in the Navy, and his first name is still being pondered over.

For now everyone is to call him "Kerby" or "Kerberos" until told otherwise. Moreover, nobody will defy this considering that Adam is not in the mood to be messed with and will put up a fight.

"I'm still exhausted. I loved seeing baby Kerby come to, uh, here? But I'm tired." Lance leans on Keith's shoulder, complaining continuously.

"Mhm," Keith completely ignores him. "Do you think he'll be good friends with Marco and Luis? I think they'd make a very cute trio. I know the age gap might be a bit much but it'd still be nice, I'd love to see it."

Lance sighs, shaking his head with a smile. He won't comment on how blatantly he was ignored by his lover, he knows his mate is only excited for the future now that he has a nephew/brother. "They'll get along well."

Shiro crosses his arms over his chest with a stern expression. He's about to say something that'll definitely make him sound like a dad. "They better. My son isn't going to be getting bullied by no McClain kids, that ain't happening."

"It won't happen. Family protects family." Lance gives a bright smile. "They'll be close, we'll make sure."

"Weirdly enough I think they'll probably feel like cousins. I know they aren't Lance's kids," Adam shrugs, "but they sort of act like it. Plus, they're around all the time so it'll feel like they're close family."

"They are close family." Keith grins. "We're all close family and when my baby gets here they'll only be closer. I'm going to make them spend a whole shit load of time with their nephew or niece."

"Yes, force the boys into loving our kid." Lance can't stop smiling at Keith, he's so cute and happy.

"I got it!" Adam shouts. It's a surprise the baby doesn't wake at the amount of noise produced by his mother. "We should name him Akiro because Shiro is Japanese and my name starts with an A!"

Keith and Lance agree that the baby boy should also reflect more about Adam but the boy's parents disagree. Adam is the mother, he gets to choose, and Shiro will think it's perfect no matter what. Maybe he's a little extra happy the baby has a Japanese name but he won't go around bragging about it.

Akiro Kerberos Shirogane is printed on the birth certificate along with his birthday and other important information.

When the sun sets Keith and Lance head back to Keith's for the night to finish up the nursery and get a good night's rest before heading back to the hospital in the morning. Shiro decides to stay at the hospital with Adam and Akiro and it takes almost twenty minutes of convincing before Lance is allowed to drive Shiro's car back.

"Just us again." Lance smiles softly as he drives, holding Keith's hand tightly within his own. He kisses his knuckles every couple minutes, both basking in the sun's final golden rays.

Keith hums in acknowledgement, deep in thought.

"Y'know, with the baby on the way I've been thinking?"

"About what?"

"Everything, I guess... I never thought I'd make it this far but look at us. We're doing it."

"Yes, we're doing it. We're doing all of it, aren't we?" Keith giggles softly, gazing at his handsome mate. "We're mated, gonna have a baby, and we're happy."

"All that's left is marriage and the rest of our lives together as a family."

"Yeah." His gaze softens more, happiness etched in every pore of his being. He squeezes Lance's hand, "Buying a house, college, more babies, getting a puppy, getting our dream jobs, and living the rest of our lives. Nothing more than that."

"Much more than that but nothing less, my love, we'll have it all." The alpha assures, briefly glancing away from the street to lock eyes with his love for a second before refocusing. "Nothing less."
