The sky was covered in a sea of ash from the raging blaze that engulfed the Terranian Castle. Soldiers of the Dark, a frontier rebellion against the people of Terra, slowly advanced towards the Queen of Terra, Lois Velheim and her daughter Lauren Velheim.
"Come with us Queen of Terra, the Dark Embiot expects your presence." One of the dark soldiers said. Lois just looked at him and gestured to her soldiers to attack him. They rushed forward only to meet there deaths swiftly by his sword. He lunged his sword toward Lois but she just caught his blade below her hip. Then suddenly a ray of scarlet pierced through the soldiers chest as he slowly coughed out blood and lay limp on the floor of the throne room. The other soldiers came to attack but Lauren was faster with her saber cutting through their torsos with ease. Lois stared at her tattered dress. She was a red haired, woman with a balanced figure that could send any man astray. As for Lauren she was a young, red haired vixen that stuck more approval up-town than any lady in Terra. More soldiers burst into the room and this time there were more than these two could handle. "Quickly! To the top of the tower" shouted Lois as she held her daughter's hand and made haste from the brutal dark soldiers. They reached the top with no way out as they remained only to be surrounded completely by the dark soldiers. "Listen, Lauren we might not be able to make out of this alive." Lois said as she gripped one her hands where a red ring was on her index finger.
"Mother, no need I've always loved you and Father. There's nothing more I would have ever asked for to keep you safe." Lauren said slowly unsheathing her saber from her waist."In due time you'll understand Lauren........" Lois said as she walked infront of her daughter. ".......but you just have to go on without me." As soon as those words came from her mouth, Lauren could only find herself falling from the tower as her mother pushed her away and watched as the soldiers came to attack her.
"MOTHER!!!" She shouted as hue of scarlet lit the top of the tower and screams could be heard from the top. Lauren fell into the river that crosses south side of the castle only to emerge unscathed from the water. The cold dread from the water could not compare to the dread she felt after her mother's sacrifice. She opened her left clenched hand only to find the red ring her mother wore. The blaze now completely covered the entire castle in a way that no one could have survived such flames. Only a storm of ash closed in on the castle. Lauren watched as her home burnt to blackness which filled her with vicious anger and hatred.
"I swear by the name of Velheim........." She said as she clenched her fists till blood poured from her hands. "......... I'll end this war with my bare hands." As she stood at the entrance to the endless maze of forest that awaited her. But this was only the beginning of her story as another begins.
On Earth, everything was going on as it should, unnecessary arguments on politics, random challenges on social media platforms and top trends to try out which could gross you out. But only one boy's life seemed to be the centre of attention. Logan Mitchell was late to school for the 26th time already. He was a sloppy, neatly haired, average individual with a knack of always getting in trouble. Miss Clara, he's homeroom teacher, was a standard, grade A, strict personality that didn't like one bit of Logan."You know what's coming to you do you Logan?" Miss Clara said with both her arms folded as she stared at him at the entrance to the class.
"Yah, yah I know. Punishment and detention." Not a moment later Logan is in the IT room with his best friend Sammy. He's a blonde haired, glasses wearing, A Lister that even girls at school fall for him.
"Why'd you come and help me Sammy? It was my punishment." Logan said carrying a box of extension cords to the end of the room.
"Well for starters, am you best pal so you had it coming and secondly because for some reason I know your gonna mess this up without me." Sammy said cheerfully as he reconfigured the computer monitors. Sammy has been with Logan ever since he moved in the city of Leicester for some time and there friendship is nothing more than a spark that Logan couldn't handle.
"Even if that were the case am not all bad news." Logan defensively replied.
"Yet your late again for the 26th time, dude you gotta let me know what's up with you and your home?." Sammy asked staring at Logan who looked liked a depressed 5 year old after taking his candy away.
"It's nothing man your just being weird again." Logan said standing up lifting the extension cords to the socket. "Besides this is also part of my work. I mean I am in the IT club so it's two birds, one stone." Logan added confidently.
"Yah I don't think so........". Before Sammy could even finish what he was saying, Logan tripped on one of the extension cords and fell down making every router in the room fall and break.
"Nice going jackass, you had to put the cord in my way." Logan said frustrated lying on the floor. "Hey you got bad eyes........." As soon as he got up he could feel the rage of Miss Clara in the atmosphere around him. He faced Sammy first who gave him the "your dead look". Logan slowly turned himself to face the hell he was about to walk on to.
Miss Clara just stood blood pumping so much a vein could be seen pulsing from her forehead. She just said "follow me" and that sent tremors through Logan. Like Mount Fuji exploded in his insides. He followed her slowly as Sammy whispered "Good luck" to him.
Soon they were in the library and she stood outside the entrance while he was inside."Your at to catalogue all these books by sundown or you will be suspended." She said in the most calm voice behind her anger. "What......... suspended but I can't even at this rate do you know how many books are here Miss Clara!" Logan replied loudly as he felt her rage rise even more.
"You left me no choice so now you have to pay the price, you know what happens when you don't pay the price don't you?" She said gleaming at the cowering body of the boy infront of her. Logan just simply nodded and watched her as she closed the library doors.
"Well I've done it." Logan said to himself as he began picking the books and cataloguing them. It 12:30pm, he had been in the library for over two hours as he limped slowly like a zombie to the next category.
"Why'd I wind up with this. I could just simply told her." Logan thought as he picked more books to catalogue. "But nooooo....... You just had to accept it jackass." As soon as he stopped he stared at the floor wondering what he would've told Miss Clara at the beginning before any of this ever happened. He just couldn't come to terms with it, the reason why everyone suddenly decided to make that one decision that ended up ruining his life. As he was self pouting, he's hands reached upon a black book. He stared at the book looking for a title but it had none then flicked the pages open but to his surprise they were all blank. "What's a book like this doing here?" He asked as he closed the book which opened itself until the last page to see a black King chess piece on the paper. "What the............." He said puzzled. He stared around the room to find a chess board on one the tables in the library. " Chess club never leaves it's stuff behind so what's going on here?" He asked as if asking the book the same question. Suddenly chess pieces slowly emerged from the bottom of the board and started moving on their own. There was the Red Army and the Black army. " I know I don't play chess but this is not normal." Logan said as he watched the pieces each disappear until only the two Kings remained then the Black King remained on the board. Logan reached his hand out to hold the piece curious of what it holds until the black book opened itself and lit ash and dark rays across the table. Logan shielded his eyes from the light as he got sucked into the book only to emerge at the edge of a dark forest in the night. He stared up catching his breath only to see a blaze from far away, gold ash falling from the sky and three moons with one close enough to beat Jupiter at its own size. "Yup am in a another dimension." He said sarcastically which didn't fit the worried expression on his face.
