"Daniel get up or you'll be late for school." Said dad. Oh. Did I mention that they moved in on Sunday which was also yesterday? Guess I forgot to mention that...
"Dad. I don't feel so good today." I said. Though half of it was true. But mostly, I just didn't want to leave my bed. I was up reading Harry Potter most of the night. The sun was already up by the time I had set the book down and fell asleep. No wonder my eyesight is bad...
"Get up. Mason and Carter are starting at your school today. You can't leave them to fend for themselves on the very first day." He said as he opened the curtains, letting the burning light in.
"Dad. It's high school. Not Jurassic Park. They'll survive even if I'm not there."
"You can read as much Harry Potter as you want when you get back, but in the meantime," He said as he picked me up from the bed bridal style, along with my covers. Just as I was about to snuggle into his chest and go back to sleep, he dropped me into something ice cold. The bathtub...
"Dad!!! You asshole!!!! I'll get you back for this you good for nothing shitty old man!!!!!" I screamed but he was already long gone.
"Look on the bright side, you're wide awake now!!!" He Screamed back from somewhere inside the house.
I let myself soak in the ice cold water for a few seconds before getting out.
After 15, antagonizing minutes, I was fully dressed and dry. I was wearing an oversized, black, hooded jacket, a me gusta meme t-shirt under and black jeans. I gave up on taming my hair when I was 9 so I just brushed it and let it stick out in all the ways possible.
The boys were the only ones at the dining table when I got downstairs.
"Morning," I mumbled as I sat at the same spot I sat at dinner the previous night.
"Well somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Said Carter as he took a bite of his toast.
"More like the wrong side of the bathtub," I said as I picked up some toast with Nutella already spread on it. 'How did this even get here? There wasn't any bread in those bags. Or Nutella. Or Jam.'
"That explains why you were screaming bloody murder so early in the morning." Said Mason with a slight laugh.
"Where's Coralline and asshole?" I asked, still pissed at my dad.
"Mom already left for work, as for James... I'm not sure." Said Carson. I checked the time on my phone. It was 7:50. 'If dad doesn't come out of his hiding spot by 8:00, we'll have to take the bus.....'
"I forgot to ask you last night, how old are you guys?" After asking Coralline, the game turned into a conversation about bad, but hilarious, choices we've made.
"I'm 18. And grumpy over there is 17." Answered Mason as he pointed his thumb towards Carson who was sitting to my right. 'So Mason's a year older than me and Carson is my age. Mason shouldn't have any problem getting friends. As for Carson... I'm not sure. Guess we'll find out!'
I checked my phone once again. It was 07:59 and there was still no sign of dad meaning that we had no choice, but to take the bus.
"We should get going or we'll miss the bus," I said as I got up from the table with my empty plate and left it in the dishwasher.
Before I went to get my bag, I took one last Nutella toast from the table.
The school hallways were already filled with people. Most of them were too busy talking to each other to notice us.
"So when will I be meeting your friends?" Asked Carson who was standing to my right with thumbs in his jeans, walking like he owned the place.
He was wearing black jeans, white t-shirt topped with a black leather jacket.
