I was alone that time because it’s almost three days since the fight between me and my boyfriend and without notice, I found myself walking toward the beach. It’s a good thing I’m wearing denim short and loose see-through colored pink long sleeves polo with matching fit flops, a tinted black glasses and a shoulder bag that suites my summer out fits.
Nag out-of-town kami ng family ko and at first parang halos ayaw ko pang sumama at mas gusto ko nalang na magkulong sa kwarto ko and magmukmok pero I told myself na, ‘eto ang kailangan ko sa panahon ngayon; break.’ Kaya I decided to go with them.
I chose to be alone para makapag isip isip narin ako. I brought a pen and an Oslo with me since I wanted to lessen the pain by simply letting it flow on the waves of ocean. Napaka relaxing and calm kasi ng ocean sa mga mata ko and the crashing of waves on the rocks and shore are the music to my ear.
I scan the place to look for an empty space for me to sit on and while I’m on my way dun sa nakita kong space,
THUGSH!
“Aaaw, I’m sorry. I wasn’t really looking in my way.”
“No, no, it’s okay. I should be the one to apologize since ako naman talaga ang nakabangga sa’yo.”
“It’s okay too; anyway, I should be going. Bye.”
“Wait Miss, are you from Wattpad City?”
“Yes. How did you know that?”
He giggled before he answers my question and says” You see we go to same school together since elementary grades.”
I was shocked upon my hearing. At first I thought he was joking pero naconfirmed din namin agad na sa iisang school nga lang talaga kami nag-aaral.
“By the way, I’m Theo Drake Cameron. You can call me Theo for short.” Said Theo while giving his right hand to me.
“Ivy Mae Bennett. Ivy nalang itawag mo sakin.”
That day I thought I will be alone but no, I’m with a companion. Sinamahan niya ko the whole day since wala rin naman daw siyang pupuntahang iba.
Nasa may beach parin kami that time, mag da-dalawang oras narin siguro kaming nakaupo lang at kung minsan ay nagkwe-kwentuhan.
“Ivy, I hope you don’t mind pero, why are you alone and look weary this past few days?” I was a bit shocked that time upon hearing his question. It’s like he always stares at me.
“Tsss, wala ‘yun. May nangyare lang na medyo hindi maganda.”
“You know, you can share your problems with me and I can help too. Just spill it out and don’t be shy.” Sabi ni Theo habang nakatingin ng deretcho saking mga mata with sincerity.
The way he looks at me is like he really feels me. Without hesitation I told him my problem.
“Well alam ko na it’s a bit ‘old-fashioned’ but my problem is my boyfriend and we had a fight and up ‘til now we’re still not talking to each other and I really, really hates that part.” I feel a bit relieved after saying that kasi that’s the only time na nakipag usap ako ng about sa problem ko and its really worth the saliva.
“Psssh, ano ka ba, walang old-fashioned dun. Mahal mo ‘yung tao eh kaya malamang masasaktan ka nang husto. Isama mo pa ‘yung fact na lumaki kayo ng magkasama tapos biglang one day you both wake up away from each other. And that’s cruel.”
“How did you know all that stuffs?” In the middle of our most serious time, I managed to laugh hard. “Dude seriously, ‘that’s cruel?’ hahaha! The nerve dude.”
“Well at least I made you truly laugh and smile. And you know what?” I appreciate all the efforts he has been giving me from the moment we met.
“What?”
“We should celebrate! Common, it’s my treat. First time nating mag-usap sa buong buhay natin and I want to cherish every moment of it.” He said while giving me his right hand for me to stand up. I can sense happiness upon his voice and his smile; it even made my heart skip a bit.
“You’re one heck of an odd person you know! Pero since sinabi mo na treat mo ‘to, then let’s go and celebrate!”
We went to many places at the town not just for a day, but for a week. Buti nalang at wala kaming pasok for a week that time dahil sa sembreak. I had fun the whole week. ‘Yung akala kong gagawin ko ay magpapaka boring at no life ako kung saan saan pero hindi; kasi wala akong ginawa kundi tumawa ng tumawa kasama si Theo sa kung saan man niya ko dalhin na tourist spots or destination sa bayan na ‘to, every vacation kasi syang pumupunta dun sa bahay ng lola niya.
I can even remember the exact words he said when we went to the old forest of Ibarra’s as we laid down on the grass as we stared at the cloudy sky of October end; “Don’t forget that happy ever after is just waiting on the corner.”
I looked at him with confusion but the only thing he did was stared at me with a half smile that curves his lips. Then I asked him, “is that means I’ll get the answer to your words when the time is right for me to understand it?”
“Tss, Every time you breathe is a right time. Every time you speak or talk is a right time. Every time is always the right timing.” For the second time that day, I got amazed to his words.
We stared at each other for so long. From the day onwards I spent with him, I totally forgot about my problems. And it’s one of the most memorable days in my life.
“One cappuccino and a Chocó honey dipped doughnut please.”A customer said to a waitress from a distance.
