"Evan, you'll look beautiful. You always do." Dalton tells me as he grabs my shaking hands. "Jake's a lucky guy." He mumbles, an underlying emotion in his statement that I can't quite detect. I let out an uneven breath, wanting nothing more than to tell him the truth. To just tell him everything I'm feeling.

"I don't know if I can do this." I admit, so close to saying it. Dalton pulls me into a hug and rubs my back in comfort. I'd give everything to stay in this moment forever.

"It's normal to get cold feet. You're about to start the next chapter of your life. Now you need to get some rest, I'll be in your guest room." Dalton says as we pull out of the hug. He gives my hand a gentle squeeze before heading to the door. "Goodnight Evangeline." He smiles and like everytime he says my full name, my heart melts.

"Goodnight Dalton." I smile back. He shuts the door and I climb into the bed. However, it takes me nearly an hour to fall asleep.

With so many emotions going on in my mind, I sit in the guest bed and finish writing the song I started the other day. I needed to somehow let these emotions out and what better way than a song. It's called 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐞.

"She wants to get married, she wants it perfect
She wants her granddaddy preachin' the service
Yeah, she wants magnolias out in the country
Not too many people, save her daddy some money

Ooh, she got it all planned out
Yeah, I can see it all right now

I'll wear my black suit, black tie, hide out in the back
I'll do a strong shot of whiskey straight out the flask
I'll try to make it through without cryin' so nobody sees
Yeah, she wanna get married
But she don't wanna marry me

I remember the night when I almost kissed her
Yeah, I kinda freaked out, we've been friends for forever
And I'd always wonder if she felt the same way
When I got the invite, I knew it was too late

And I know her daddy's been dreadin' this day
Oh, but he don't know he ain't the only one givin' her away

I'll wear my black suit, black tie, hide out in the back
I'll do a strong shot of whiskey straight out the flask
I'll try to make it through without cryin' so nobody sees
Yeah, she wanna get married
But she don't wanna marry me

Bet she got on her dress now, welcomin' the guests now
I could try to find her, get it off of my chest now
But I ain't gonna mess it up, so I'll wish her the best now

So I'm in my black suit, black tie, hidin' out in the back
Doing a strong shot of whiskey straight out the flask
I'll try to make it through without cryin' so nobody sees
Yeah, she wanna get married
Yeah, she gonna get married
But she ain't gonna marry me

Whoa, but she ain't gonna marry me, no"

I've been in love with Evangeline, my best friend, for several years. But I was too scared to ever tell her and now I've lost my chance. She's getting married tomorrow and I can't even bring myself to hate the guy. He's good to her. Although, I can't help but wonder if I'd just told her, if it would be us getting married tomorrow and not her and Jake. I'm pulled out of my thoughts as my phone goes off and I check it to see Tanner facetiming me so I answer.

"What's up, man?" I ask, laying back in the bed.

"Not much. How's Evangeline?" He asks me, messing with his hair.
