Megumi's life was simple and predictable, filled with monotony and routine. He would wake up, go to classes, come home, and read books until he fell asleep with his glasses on (most of the time he'd forgot he was wearing them). He rarely interacted with others, choosing to spend most of his free time in solitude.

People often found him strange and labeled him as unapproachable, especially since he was only focused on studying. People would ask him why he didn't choose a more practical major, one that would lead to a stable job and a comfortable life. But for Megumi, philosophy was an escape from reality.

In his mind, the world was too chaotic and illogical. The only way he could make sense of it was by delving into the deep and complex theories philosophy provided. It was his way of finding some sort of meaning in a meaningless existence.

But Megumi had always been a loner, even before he discovered philosophy. When he was little he didn't have many friends and felt content being by himself or would usually listen quietly to the adults discussions. As the years went by, he began to feel lonelier and more disconnected from the world around him. His family falling apart in the process emphasised this condition.

Megumi grew up stubborn and overly critical of himself and others. He also has a tendency to overthink things, causing him to become paralyzed in decision-making.

Only recently he started to question if his obsession with philosophy was just another way of isolating himself from society. Was he using it as an excuse to avoid forming meaningful relationships and facing his own problems? Most likely, yeah.

But the thought of giving up philosophy for anything else was terrifying to him. It had become his identity, his safe haven. Without it, he didn't know who he was or how to navigate the world.

Deep down though Megumi knew that he couldn't continue living like this forever. He needed to break out of his bubble and face whatever surrounded him, hang out with people his age, do normal stuff people of his age did (he didn't know what they considered normal though), experience love, and possibly start travelling. And maybe, just maybe, he could find some happiness and purpose in life beyond abstract ideas or at least he hoped so.

Megumi was not having a good day. In fact, he was having a terrible day.

The sun was scorching hot and he was regretting his choice of sitting near the window. He could feel the sweat trickling down his face as he tried to concentrate on his notes for his next philosophy class.

As a university student in Tokyo, Megumi was known for his reserved and gloomy nature. Everyone knew he preferred to be left alone and he did not enjoy socializing with anyone. (It seemed easier letting him just be. No one ever tried reaching out.) However, he was also known for his strong temper and bluntness, which often surprised his classmates, as if it wasn't a character treat his personality was supposed to show.
