We rushed out of the hospital, Emma limping beside me. Knowing we weren't safe if Violet had escaped, I reassured Emma, "It's a good thing I bought a new house for us where Violet can never find us. Hop in the car."
She got in and checked the back to ensure we were alone. I took the front seat, started the car, and drove towards our new refuge. As we arrived, Emma looked at the house and smiled, saying, "I love it; it looks just like the one we had when we were 6 years old." Eager to explore, she suggested, "Let's go in."
We walked in and instantly fell in love with our new home. Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted our joy. Peeking through the window, I saw Violet standing outside with a gun in her hand. Panicking, I instructed Emma, "Umm, find my phone in my black bag. It should be able to call 911, but not this number."
"Okay," I replied, grabbing my gun. "Just follow me."
We headed to the closet, and as Violet forcefully kicked down the door and approached, Emma and I were left in suspense, both of us staring into the unknown.
