Reid's POV

"Reid. Reid, wait up," Noah yells chasing after me as I walk out of the cafeteria.

"What?"

"Dude, what was that in there?"

"It was nothing," I say, turning away from him and heading to my next class.

"It sure didn't look like nothing to me."

"I don't know," I sigh, stopping in my tracks. "Today has been a lot harder than I expected. I knew Angela was going to cause hell for me but damn it's been nonstop all day. I'm so tired of everyone coming up to me saying I did her wrong. I've not done shit to her."

"I guess it didn't help that Angela kept waving you over saying she forgave you and just wanted you back."

"Not one fucking bit. All she wants is attention and if that means playing the victim card she will. She really has some fucking nerve thinking that I will take her back. I don't know how she thinks acting like this will help."

"It's Angela," he says as if it's common knowledge. "She knows how to manipulate people and she knows how much you hate drama. She's hoping that the gossip will bother you enough that you'll take her back just to be able to get the gossip to end."

"Yeah, in her damn dreams."

"And in your nightmares. So, I get why you are in a bad mood, but why did we sit at a random table with a very feisty short girl who might now be planning on killing me over some damn goldfish."

"I guess I didn't really think that one through at the time," I sheepishly laugh, "I saw a table with people who didn't seem to care about the gossip of my life, and it seemed like the best place to be. I didn't think they would hate me with a passion. I know I share a couple of classes with her, but I've not done anything to her."

"Have you ever talked to her? Maybe you said something and didn't realize she was hurt by it."

"No, not that I can recall," I try to think back. "I think today might have been the first time I've heard her speak. I know she's in my music class."

"You mean yelled," Noah jokes. "That wasn't speaking. She silenced the whole damn cafeteria."

"Yeah, that was a bit wild. Do you think the two of them hate us that much?"

"It wouldn't surprise me. We're hated by default. But it could also be that most of the people we hang out around are horrible excuses for humans and if any of them has ever messed with the two of them they probably associate them with us."

"Do you know much about those two?"

"Parker and Caden?" Noah smiles slyly, "Of course, I do. You know I know things about everyone."

"What do you know?"

"The guy is Caden Miles. He's a bit of an interesting one. If I remember things correctly, he was someone who could have probably hung with us. I know Angela had a huge crush on him before the two of you started dating."

"And what happened with that?" I had no clue about any of this.

"He turned her down and any other girl who came around him."

"Really?"

"Yeah, he never gave a reason. He would just say no. I've also heard some of the guys say that they've seen him play football outside of school and he's good at it."

"Being good at football doesn't mean anything." Noah stares at me as if he is debating if he should say anything else. "What is it?"

"He's good-good. Like some may have said he's better than you."
