That night as the sun was setting, Will from Apollo cabin had just started the campfire.
Abby, excited for the evening skipped among the campers and Percy, being told by Annabeth to watch the little girl, followed in her footsteps before they eventually came to a seat next to a few of the Hermes kids.
"My name is Abby," she proudly introduced herself to the entire bench and older campers laughed at the adorable kid.
"Campfire nights are the best, I am so glad we came back for a visit," Percy said.
"Why are they the best?" Abby asked.
"You never know what's gonna happen," Percy grinned
"Sometimes the gods make announcements," One of the Hermes kids continued.
as he said it, the flames burst into an array of colors and a god appeared. Hermes.
"Attention demigods," He said in the most over dramatic voice. Abby had flinched back in her spot and huddled closer to Percy.
"Tonight you have got another trickster on your hands," everyone looked at Abby expectantly.
"Welcome to the family Abby," Hermes boomed and an orange aura spread across Abby's almond color skin. Campers applauded and a few of the older Hermes kids hoisted the kid up and chanted.
"Abby, Abby, Abby," when they set her down, Hermes was gone and she looked ecstatic.
The rest of the campfire was spent joking with her siblings and singing songs. eventually as campers started filing out, Conner Stoll offered to take her to the cabin but she insisted she needed to tell Annabeth, who Percy had not seen since the three went to the beach that afternoon.
"Kiddo, she might be sleeping," Percy said gently but she insisted.
"Fine, we can go knock on her cabin door, Conner I'll take her back in about ten minutes,"
Conner nodded and headed to his cabin.
when we arrived at cabin six, Abby knocked on the door and Annabeth flung it open.
"What-" she started then saw the little girl. She stepped outside and closed the door behind her.
"Hey sweetie," Annabeth crouched down to give her a hug, "I'm really sorry I wasn't able to see you get claimed,"
"That's okay," Abby shrugged, "My daddy is Hermes,"
"I heard," Annabeth laughs quietly, to make sure the other kids didn't wake up.
Abby yawned, "Well sleepyhead, you should go get some sleep now," Annabeth suggested.
We said our goodbyes and I carried a very sleepy little girl back to cabin eleven where Conner was waiting for us.
"I got her," Conner offered. I waited a moment for him to come back out.
"She's out cold," he laughed, "She really is an adorable little girl though," he admitted. Even the biggest prankster in camp had a soft side.
"Yeah, even Clarisse likes her,"
Conner looked troubled and for once he wasn't smiling.
"What's wrong dude?"
"It's just, the last girl her age that came to camp was well, Annie and that talk about you two in her dreams,"
I had nearly forgotten that Conner and Travis had been at camp when Annabeth arrived.
"I get it, but she's six, the gods can't have anything big planned for her yet and I swear on the river Styx that I will train her to be even better than me," the sky rumbled, as it always did when an oath upon the river Styx was made.
"You're right," he smiled again, "You should go, harpies will be out soon,"
I nodded and left the dim lighting of the cabin porch back to the lonely Poseidon cabin.
