the bump in

Flash back

I was walking down the street wearing my headphones and just people watching, when a boy around my age bumps into me.

"I'm so sorry!" I tell the boy, taking off one side of my headphones to be respectful!

"oh my I'm really sorry, I did not see you there!" he smiles at me and then we both continue in the directions that we were headed.

I was headed to the grocery store to grab some flowers for my moms birthday, some of her favorite chocolates, and obviously a card.

Yes I'm 13 and walking to the store by myself, but I'm a very responsible kid, and my mom really doesn't care. Ever since dad left it's just been me and my mom, which is just okay for us!

I finally reach the store and immediately grab her favorite chocolates. Which are dove chocolates and then Ghirardelli chocolates as well. I grab her a happy birthday card, and finally I pick up some purple and white flowers for her. As I'm walking to the check out I see a cute small two person cake, so I also grab that.

As I'm headed to check out I see the boy that I ran into on my way over here. Funny, I think to myself, and continue to scan my items, pay, and then prepare myself for the 20 minute walk home.

I turn on one of my many Spotify playlists, picking a random one, as I'm waiting to cross the street. Once the light tells me I can cross the street I do.

After twenty minutes, I finally reach home. I was slightly sad, because it was autumn day and the weather outside was perfect.

Before I do anything I make sure that I run to the bathroom, not knowing whether or not she is home yet, grabbing a pen and the card to sign for mom. I write a cute little note and then I walk out of the bathroom.

I make sure that I have everything with me and then I set them up on the kitchen island in the middle. I also wipe off the counters, wash the dishes in the sink, dry them, put them away, and then light the rosy smelling candle that is sitting on the island.

"Elaine!! I'm home, how was your day sweetie?!" my mom slightly shouts as she is walking in the door.

"happy birthday mama!!" I say carrying the cake with one candle on it for her to blow out, "make a wish!" I tell her laughing as she pretends to contemplate her many wishes and then blows out the candle.

"thank you sweet heart, this was so nice of you to do," she says walking around to set the bags in her hands on the counter, "and you did the dishes?!" she exclaims excited because she didn't have to do them.

"yeah I did" I laughed, "I thought that it is something I need to start doing more, so why not start now?!" I tell her with a sigh.

"well that was very kind of you. do you want to order take out for tonight?" she asks, "and then we can watch our movie?"

"um when am I going to say no to that!" I'm so excited to do this, "hey I'm going to change into some pjs, and then I'll be down!" I tell her and then head up the stairs when I hear her response.

I love being able to spend time with my mom, she is always busy with work and when she does get to get home early we always do something special.

Most of the time it's just me at home, if I'm not at practice, at school, or at the library studying. Which I don't mind, but I just wish that I would see my mom. By the time I'm asleep she is just getting home, so if we do talk it's more of a goodnight exchange of words. So tonight will be nice!

I change into a harry styles, love on tour, hoodie with white and black checkered pj pants. I take my hair out of the claw clip that it's in and then put it into a messy bun. I take off my makeup and wash my face. Then I head downstairs grabbing a bunch of blankets for my mom and I.

imagine a couch like this, but it has a lot of blankets to make it like cozy??

After I get the couch set up, I hear the doorbell ring and then my mom shouting, "I'll get it!". I'm hoping that she got McAlister's, because that shit is so buss (it's like a fast food but like not like McDonald's fast food? Look it up yall).

As I'm waiting for her to stop chit chatting with the delivery person, I turn on our movie. Which is Mama Mia, ever since I was little we would always watch it togther. And because of that I would always ask her to turn on "our movie". So it just stuck I guess? I turn it to the waiting to play screen.

I walk into the kitchen, helping my mom to get everything out of the bags. Then we carry our food and drinks into the living room and set them on the coffee table.

"okay Elaine, are you ready to start this movie night?!" She says with an excited voice.

"of course I am mom!!" I say in the same type of voice.

We start the movie and eat our food. We are singing along to all of the songs because we know them like the back of our hands. Once the movie is over, we clean up our mess. We say goodnight to each other and then we both go to bed.

as I'm laying in bed, attempting to fall asleep, my mind goes back to the boy I saw today. I felt like I've seen him somewhere, but that is how it is with most people.

I fall asleep around 11:30, thankful tomorrow is Saturday, so it won't really matter what time I went to bed, but I was really tired.
