"I left my phone inside my desk drawer...."
- Zhang Ling Yi ^^The cold night welcomed Ling Yi's arrival back home. The familiar scenery appears before Ling Yi's sight , a grand magnificent mansion before him.
He reluctantly steps forward to the main gate infront of him , somehow reminding him of cell bars. A unpleasant memory of the past soon flashes through in his head.
"Ma , I promise I'll be a good boy... please let me go out..." there stood a boy around 6 years old grabbing onto the bars of the gate tightly , begging his mother to be let out the house.
Opposite the gate there stood a woman. Her gaze showing no signs of sympathy for the poor child , not even a single hint of care nor love.
"Young master , Ms Zhang is inside the living room waiting for you." Someone spoke as it distrubts the memory of Ling Yi.
Ling Yi stares and gave a small nod at the maid who appeared infront of him. He slowly walks in , taking small steps at a time like he needed to be aware of his surroundings.
After a few more steps were taken , Ling Yi makes it to the front door and opens it. A gush of deja vu rushes through him , viewing the familiar view in front of him.
Unknowingly his body moves him forward to something. A grand piano which looks expensive. He sat down hesitantly and presses a key. Ling Yi who still can't hear a single thing , presses the keys trying to play a familiar melody. Unable to hear anything he was currently playing , his head turned into a mess full of denial.
The more he plays , the more it gets more aggressive with the way he plays. With all the emotions circulating inside him , he could only shout in frustration , banging onto the piano keys.
Sinked deep into his anger , he wasn't able to notice the presence of his mom standing beside him screaming at him.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Ling Yi's mom places her hands around his shoulder , turning him around. Causing him to break his attention from the piano.
Ling Yi's expression was painted in denial , anger , sadness and frustration. His eyes red and teary , pupils shaking from all the emotions he's feeling. Playing the piano was his only remedy to fill in the void he has. His other reason to keep on going.
"What's gotten into you!" Ling Yi's mom shouted looking at her son like he's a stranger in this house. Ling Yi sat there not moving an inch , not even looking at her straight in the eye.
For the first time in his life , Ling Yi ignored his mom. Despising his current attitude , Ling Yi's mom slapped him across his cheeks burning in fury. She despised that poker face on his face. She despised that her son ignored her , evrything about him despised her.
Even with a slap , Ling Yi didn't move an inch yet even bat an eye. Without thinking further , he rushed out the door running like it was his only escape.
He could still feel the stinging pain on his cheek as the wind brushes his face , somewhat relieving the pain. He felt free , running away. But that still couldn't help his aching heart , longing for something.
He ran and ran and ran like his life depended on it , charging forward to the unknown. His body taking control of everything , even him not knowing where he is currently running to.
Losing his balance , he fell down scrapping his knees and hands. He couldn't even think about the pain nor think straight , only a person came to mind. 'An Zai'
Overwhelming in these emotions , he couldnt hold back and cried his heart out , feeling numb all over. Tears streamed down his elegant face till puffy red eyes could be seen. Wondering to himself , if she was fine.
Suddenly , a black leather shoe appears in front of his view. He couldn't even bother looking up to see who it was. It's fine even if it were to be a murderer , a stab through his heart wouldn't even be able to be compared to what he was currently feeling all over. Mentally and physically.
"You look sick..." the mysterious man says as he places a bottle of medicine on the ground before leaving. Curious to what it was , Ling Yi grabs the bottle , showing the label 'Pain Killers' on it.
Ling Yi looks at the bottle of pain killers on his hands before deciding to take them. In the end , he took it without any caution , swallowing down the pill harshly without any water.
He tries to get back up , mustering all his energy left in him to do so. With small steps first , he tried to continue to run. To be able to make it to the destination or wherever he was heading to just a few moments ago.
Ling Yi ran with all his strength he has left , panting even harder the more he ran , as if like gasping for air.
The more he ran , the more he felt like he was closer to something. Maybe it was fate pulling him , he could only head forward.
Ling Yi stopped in front of a school , out of breath and covered in sweat. He gasps for air , breathing in and out as he wipes off the dripping sweat from his forehead with the back of his hands.
'HSS High School'
Seeing the name of his high school , he finnaly remembers. Her. This must be why he ran here , its all crystal clear. A small smile creeps onto the corner of his lips. Finnaly knowing why.
As he was about to head in , someone stopped him at his tracks. "Young man , why are you here so late at night?" A old man questioned Ling Yi while tilting his head.
Ah it is uncle Lim , the schools security guard Ling Yi thought to himself. He knew he couldn't hear a word Uncle Lim said but he had a gist of what Uncle Lim could've said.
He pats his pants pocket , taking out his phone. 'I left my workbook inside my class.' He typed out in his phone and showed it to Uncle Lim. 'Would he fall for it?' He thought , biting his inner lips to distract his feeling of nervousness.
The security squints his eyes looking at Ling Yi's text message carefully. "Ahh you left your workbook in the class is it? Okay okay no problem, just remember to take it out next time." Uncle Lim smiles at Ling Yi warmly , still squinting his eyes , wrinkles formed over his eyes and smile line.
Uncle Lim slowly opens up the school gates , making a tiny entrance for Ling Yi to head in. Ling yi then does a small bow before heading in , thanking Uncle Lim. He was also the reason why he was able to continue living. If it weren't for Uncle Lim back then , who knows what'll happend to Ling Yi.
In the end , these two words 'Thank you' , Ling Yi could only hold these words in.
