"I've never heard such a story," Seymour said in surprise. "Where did you hear it?"

Austin turned red with embarrassment. "Uh, I liked old legends as a kid and looked them up," he lied, reminiscing about his childhood. Pokémon Red was his gateway into the Pokémon franchise, the first video game he played when he was four. He had loved playing it so much that he became obsessed with knowing every little detail about Pokémon. He remembered how his brother had once called him the "Fountain of Useless Knowledge" when it came to Pokémon.

As soon as the group ventured deeper into the cave, they were met by a cacophony of noise, sounding like a multitude of flapping wings. They followed the sound and gasped upon seeing a horde of Zubat harassing a lone Clefairy.

Clefairy, a small, pink Pokémon resembling a fairy, had a large round body, short stubby arms and legs, two small wings sticking out from its back, and short, pink, pointy ears tipped with black.

Zubat, a dark blue, bat-like Pokémon, had no visible eyes, a circular mouth with sharp teeth, purple wings, and long, almost insect-like legs.

The Clefairy was currently hunched over, covering its head with its eyes shut, trying its best to shield itself from the relentless Zubats.

"Zubat and Clefairy..." Brock and Seymour murmured.

"Oh no! We need to help Clefairy!" Yellow said urgently.

"Right!" Austin agreed as Pikachu sprinted forward.

"Pikachu! Use Thundershock to break it up!" Austin commanded.

"Kitty, use String Shot," Yellow said, tossing a Pokéball as Weedle emerged.

Both Pokémon launched their attacks, hitting some of the Zubat while just passing between others. Regardless, all of the Zubat were startled by the attacks and fled back to other parts of the cave.

The distressed Clefairy opened its eyes and looked around at the sudden cessation of the attack, then curiously at the group of people and Pokémon in front of it.

"That's strange to see a Clefairy at the edge of Mt. Moon like this," Brock stated. "Clefairy are normally very rare and very shy. Some people never see Clefairy at all as they pass through here."

"It's so cute! Hello, Clefairy," Yellow said as she approached it with a smile.

The Clefairy immediately displayed a frightened expression and ran off as fast as it could until it disappeared into another part of the cave.

"Wait!" Yellow called, but it was too late.

"As I mentioned before, Clefairy is shy of humans. You can't just walk right up to one like you can with a few other Pokémon," Brock told her with a slightly scolding tone.

"Right. I guess I got carried away," Yellow admitted sheepishly while scratching her cheek.

However, only a few seconds after the Clefairy disappeared, its scream caught their attention as they ran towards it, only to see four people dressed in black uniforms surrounding the Clefairy.

The heck?! Austin thought, surprised to see Rocket Grunts rather than just Jessie and James.

"Team Rocket," Brock whispered, looking at Austin and Yellow. "Come on, we need to call the authorities—"

"Stop what you're doing," Seymour blurted out, running ahead and interrupting Brock.

"Seymour, you idiot," Austin muttered, running out too before Brock could stop him, causing the former Gym Leader to sigh as he and Yellow followed.
