The Grunts were visibly unnerved, witnessing how effortlessly the specialized Admins were defeated. "Pathetic," a new voice sneered, prompting everyone to turn and see a red-haired woman in a white uniform stride toward them. Austin's eyes widened as he recognized her as Ariana, one of the Four Rocket Executives from the Johto games.

"A kid beat you two?" Ariana approached them with a disdainful look. "And not just once, from the sounds of it."

"A-Ariana, we can explain—" James began, only to be silenced by the woman's glare.

"Shut it. If I wanted you weaklings to explain yourselves, I would allow it," Ariana snapped, silencing them before turning her attention to Austin. "Well, boy, I suppose I should take care of you before you become a problem."

Oh man, this is bad, Austin thought, taking a step back. She won't be like the other Rocket members we fought before.

"Gloom, Razor Leaf," Ariana commanded. A small blue Pokémon with a red closed-up flower for hair came out and shot leaves that slammed into Butterfree and Pikachu, sending them sprawling out of the fight.

Austin stared, shocked that in one hit he had lost two of his strongest Pokémon.

"Well, what's your move now?" Ariana taunted.

Quickly returning Butterfree and scooping up Pikachu, Austin handed him to Yellow to watch over as he pulled out another Pokéball. "Pidgeotto, use Sand Attack."

As the bird executed the move, Austin quickly returned him while Team Rocket was busy dealing with the sand, then turned to flee, grabbing Yellow and Seymour's arms as he did. "Come on."

Brock nodded, approving Austin's choice, as Clefairy scampered after them.

When the dust settled, Ariana laughed upon realizing they had escaped. "Running away like the cowards they are?"

"We can chase after them—" one Grunt began, only for Ariana to dismiss the idea with a shake of her head.

"Don't. They won't be a problem."

"But—" the Grunt attempted to argue, only to be silenced by the appearance of an Arbok that bared its fangs menacingly.

"Did you just speak back to me?" Ariana asked in a sickly sweet tone, causing the Grunt to blanch.

If there was anything Ariana was known for, it was her penchant for torturing especially disobedient Grunts. "N-No Mistress Ariana," the Grunt stammered, bowing his head and stepping back.

"Good," Ariana said, turning her gaze to Jessie and James. "You can still redeem yourselves by finding the Moon Stone. If you fail, however... I'll leave it to your imagination."

Everyone was panting by a stream outside of the cave. "T-That was too close," Austin managed to say, having shaken Team Rocket about an hour earlier.

"That was completely reckless of you, Ash," Brock admonished.

"I'm not the one who gave away our position," Austin retorted, as Seymour looked down, ashamed.

"I just reacted," Seymour said quietly. "I didn't want to see Clefairy in any more trouble."

Brock sighed. "I can understand that, but you need to be more careful, both of you," he said, turning to Austin. "Now, what were they talking about you interfering in Viridian City?"

"They were trying to steal the Pokémon in the Pokémon Center, including mine," Austin explained, looking down. "Afterwards, I ran into Jessie and James in Viridian Forest again and beat them, both times in self-defense."

Brock nodded. "Just as long as you weren't actively seeking them out," he said, his expression serious. As a former Gym Leader who had assisted the Pewter City Police, he knew all too well that even today's Team Rocket, while not as formidable as in the past, was still extremely dangerous.

"We need to hurry, though. Zubat, Butterfree, and Pikachu are injured," Brock added.

"Uh, I can take care of that," Yellow interjected, already cradling Pikachu, who began to glow softly under her touch, startling both Brock and Seymour. Meanwhile, Austin, seeing Clefairy's shaky paws, knew the Pokémon must have been terrified by the encounter with Team Rocket. Placing a hand on Clefairy's head, Austin smiled reassuringly, and Clefairy looked back with curiosity, sensing the warmth in his aura.

As the glow faded, the scratches on Pikachu disappeared, and his ears twitched. "Chu?" Pikachu blinked in confusion.

"Yellow, did you just heal Pikachu by holding him?" Brock asked, seeking confirmation.

"I've always been able to do that," Yellow admitted, looking down. "It's one of the reasons I can easily bond with Pokémon."

"I've never heard of anything like it," Seymour exclaimed in amazement.

"Ash, did you know?" Yellow asked, surprised.

"I saw you do that to Sandshrew earlier," Austin revealed, surprising her further. "I didn't say anything because I figured you'd tell us when you were ready."

Yellow smiled in relief, then held out her hands as Brock cautiously handed her Zubat's Pokéball, followed by Austin's Butterfree. Within seconds, she had healed them.

"Yellow, I'm grateful that you did that, but you shouldn't use that power too much," Brock cautioned, noting how Yellow appeared slightly exhausted. "It would be bad if Team Rocket found out about that."

Yellow was silent before nodding in agreement. Meanwhile, Clefairy watched her in awe, clearly impressed by the kindness and unusual abilities of these humans.
