"...So. You mean to tell me that you were all trying to steal the Holy Lyre...?"
"Yes sir, Mr. Diluc, sir!" Paimon confirms with a salute.
"To stop the dragon?"
"Yes, that's correct." you affirm.
"...And how, pray tell, is that even possible?"
"It's complicated, but... Venti is saying he's Barbatos, so he can use it to stop the dragon's attacks." Lumine explains.
"...Ah." Diluc says, his eyes wide from surprise.
Wow. Hearing it out loud, this whole thing just sounds completely insane.
Seems like Diluc feels the same way.
"You do realize how... far-fetched this all sounds, right?" he asks.
"Far-fetched or not, it's all completely, 100 percent true!" Venti assures him.
"You're Barbatos?" Diluc asks in disbelief. "The literal god of Mondstadt?"
"Yes. But I don't exactly go trouncing around, ruling over people's lives and whatnot. I'm all for free will!"
"...Right." Diluc says, clearly not buying Venti's claims.
He eventually shrugs, giving a heavy sigh. "...Alright then, let's see the Lyre. Maybe 'Lord Barbatos' here can play us all a song."
"Actually, uh... it's not that simple..." Venti says.
An incredibly smug smirk appears on Diluc's face. "Of course, it isn't! Are you finally willing to back down from these outlandish claims?"
"What, no!" he exclaims. "We don't have the Lyre, so I can't do that!"
"What do you mean you 'don't have the Lyre'? Didn't you literally just steal it?" he asks.
"Well... someone may have actually beat us to the punch." you reply.
Diluc appears taken aback. "Okay. So, who has it, then?"
"It was a woman in dark purple robes." Lumine explains. "I tried to stop her, but she just... vanished! Now she has the Lyre."
Surprisingly, Diluc's gaze shifts over to you. "...this all just sounds incredibly convenient, (Y/N)."
"Uh... what do you mean, sir?" you ask in confusion.
"Well, how am I supposed to know this isn't just some... elaborate ploy by you and your friends, so you could take the day off?"
"S-seriously? That's what this all sounds like to you?" you question.
Diluc chuckles. "Heh heh, no no no, I'm just teasing."
He pauses. "Besides. I've known you long enough to know that you're a trustworthy person. Maybe not Venti, but certainly you. So, I believe your claims."
Well, that's... good, you think.
"That, and a couple Knights of Favonius guards actually stopped me in the street earlier, asking if I saw any 'suspicious characters' roaming about."
He looks in Lumine's direction. "They described one of the suspects as a 'blonde-haired woman', so... everything is starting to add up, now."
"It's good to know you're on board, Master Diluc!" Venti smiles.
"...Yes, well, I still have questions, but I suppose they can wait for another time."
He pauses for a moment, with a pensive expression appearing on his face. "A woman in purple robes, you said?"
