Subverting Expectations

"Ad astra abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild!"

You, Lumine and Paimon step up to the guild's booth on Main Street, where the receptionist, Katheryne, greets you all with a friendly grin.

"(Y/N), it's been a while! How have things been?"

"Pretty good, Katheryne!" you reply. "It's been a bit, uh... hectic at work lately, but otherwise not too bad."

"Hectic" would be an understatement, with all this Holy Lyre business.

"That doesn't surprise me at all! It always seems packed with people, whenever I get my dandelion wine from there."

"Dandelion wine?" Lumine asks in surprise.

"Yeah, it's a Mondstadt specialty!" you say with a smile. "It sells like hotcakes at the Angel's Share! We just started getting some at our tavern, as well."

Looking back toward Katheryne, you softly gasp. "Oh, where are my manners? Katheryne, I'd like you to meet Lumine."

Katheryne happily reaches her hand out for a handshake. "Pleased to meet you, Ms. Lumine! Are you new in town?"

Lumine giggles as she shakes her hand. "Yeah, I suppose you could say that. Nice to meet you, too."

"What brings you two here?" Katheryne asks.

"Well, I figured we could stop by, and see if you had any open commissions. Lumine here's looking to get a bit of combat experience."

"That's perfect!" she replies. "I've got a whole bunch posted on that billboard over there. Feel free to check it out!"

"Awesome, thank you so much!" Lumine smiles, as she and Paimon quickly hurry over to the billboard.

The two of them study it intensely, bickering back and forth over which commission to accept.

Her enthusiasm... confuses you, somewhat.

Lumine's combat skills already seem unmatched, from what you've seen. Does she really need more training?

Perhaps she doesn't feel ready to confront whatever forces captured her brother?

If her brother's skills matched her own, and he was so easily defeated... you can certainly understand her concern.

Either that, or Lumine has an insatiable bloodlust.

You chuckle aloud. You highly doubt that's the case.

Katheryne's voice interrupts your thoughts. "Hehe, what's so funny?"

"Nothing, don't worry about it." you quickly reply with a dismissive wave, still gazing off in the blonde woman's direction.

Katheryne looks toward Lumine as well. You don't notice the gentle smile appearing on her face.

"You know, she's a nice girl..." she whispers.

"Oh yeah, for sure." you reply.

"And you're a nice guy..." Katheryne continues.

You laugh, turning back to face her. "I dunno about that, but... your point?"

"It should be obvious, don't you think?"

Her question gives you pause.

She can't be suggesting... what you think she's suggesting, right?

...Actually going out with Lumine?

You won't deny that you've given the idea some thought, but...
