Chelsea was back at Grey-Sloan memorial for the intern mixer, attempting to mingle with the doctors who already worked there but trying hard not to come across as too eager unlike some of the other future interns who had done nothing other than suck up to all the attending's.

The only attending Chelsea had her eye out for was Meredith, whom she had yet to see. The blonde attending and soon to be intern had non stop been texting since they'd last seen each other a few months ago.

They hadn't met up in person again partly because neither wanted ti be the first to instigate that and partly because they had both been overwhelmed with their personal lives.

"Uh, okay. Uh, Uh, people!" Dr Webber says gathering the room of doctors and future doctors attention "Welcome...Welcome to Grey-Sloan Memorial, where your education is out top priority"

The man's words were suddenly taken less seriously when a few of the attending's abruptly burst through the doors, clearly trying to stable there walking

Richard clears his throat drawing the attention back to him hoping the future interns would forget what they had just witnessed "Uhm...You were chosen for your potential. We are one of the top-rated teaching hospitals in the nation. And with your bright futures we are certain that tradition will continue..."

Chelsea's attention is suddenly drawn away from Richard and onto another doctor who sticks out his hand for her to shake "Hi. Alex Karev. Peds surgeon. How are you?" he asks

"Uhh, good yeah, good" Chelsea replies shaking his hand in return

"So enjoy the evening..." Richard says but Alex whispers in Chelsea's ear

"Wow. He is so good at speeches"

Chelsea has to forcefully hold back her laughter "Yeah" she agrees with the clearly intoxicated man

"...Because tomorrow, you are surgeons" Richard finishes leading to an applause

A while later the intern mixer is interrupted again, this time by an applause which happens just as Richard leads Meredith into the room

Chelsea immediately takes notice of the blonde, as she would, but her eyes narrow in concern when she sees the expression the older woman wears

Meredith brief makes eye contact with Chelsea, unknown to the brunette something about her made the blonde feel slightly more at ease and a little less disheartened

"Meredith" Richard says "You've been nominated for a Harper Avery Award" he announces cheerfully

Everyone in the room begins clapping again, the blonde however does not seem thrilled, rather caught of guard

A woman Chelsea had gotten to know as Maggie says "This is amazing. Are you amazed?" she asks

Bailey quickly interrupts "It's a Harper Avery nomination. Derek never got one of those"

Chelsea furrows her brows in question over the mention of Derek, not knowing who he was at this moment.

The room falls into silence waiting for Meredith to say something, anything
