Niki looked up at the tall black building in front of her. The big gold logo “KiM Tower” was on the top of the building and the same name splashed out all over the lobby area. She took a deep breath before she made her way to the two fully suited guys guarding the entrance door.

“Erm..hi. I have an appointment with Ms Kim today.” She said as soon as she was greeted by one of them.

“May I have your name, please.”

“Oh? My name is Nicole Zefanya. Niki for short.”

He nodded his head before gesturing towards the reception area. “Okay. You can enter. Ms Mina will guide you upstairs. She will be down shortly.”

Niki wiped her sweaty palms against her pants as she walked into the lobby. Her heels clicked loudly onto the floor as she made her way towards the reception area. She looked around the gold wall finishing around the ground floor and when she looked up her eyes widened at the big chandelier hanging at the high ceilings. It looked like 3 floors high above her.. Behind the reception area she could see two women sitting with a firm serious look on their face. One of them was furiously typing something on her computer while the other was talking on her headset. Niki took a hesitant step forward but before she could reach them, she heard her name being called out.

“Ms Niki? I’m Mina, Ms Kim's secretary. Please follow me. I will bring you to her.”

Niki shook Mina’s hand. Finally a friendly smiling face. As they made their way up, Niki couldn't help but ask.

“Erm…Sorry to ask you this. But you looked familiar. Do you work at YG University too?”

Mina let out a smile again. “No. But maybe you have met my mom. Mrs Nim? She worked there. People do say I looked like her.”

Niki tilted her head. “Oh yeah! You two do look similar. You are both beautiful, by the way.”

“Thanks. We are here. You can have a seat first. I will see whether Ms Kim is ready for a visit now.” Mina said before she knocked and walked into the big black door in the corner.

Niki looked around the area. This time she was being led to a big lounge area. Total opposite from the ground below with splashes of gold. Here, there was basically no colour. Other than the white finishing of the wall, all the furniture is in black. The secretary desk, the coffee table and even the picture decorating the wall was showing some kind of black abstract. When Mina walked out from the door, Niki stood up in attention.

“She’s ready for you. Just walked in.”

“Thanks.”
“Good luck!” She heard Mina say before closing the door behind her.

Niki walked into the room and there she was, Jennie Kim. Though Jennie had a small stature, she had an imposing aura sitting behind her office table looking back at her with her piercing cat eyes.

“Please have a seat.”

Niki sat down and looked around the room. Again the same black theme as the outside. She noticed that Jennie has two sets of office tables and chairs in her office. Everything was the same and the only difference she noticed was the purple blanket and yellow scarf on the other chair.

“I think by now you are curious why I’m calling you here to meet me.” Jennie started.

Niki just nodded her head.

“You see, Lisa is quite persistent that we hired you as her personal assistant.”

Niki's eyes widened in surprise. “Erm…may I know why?”

Jennie shrugged her shoulders. “Beats me. We both know that you are not even qualified for it.”

She ignored the slight pang of hurt from the insults thrown her way. A personal assistant for Lisa but having to face Jennie Kim snide remarks at the same time is still a job. And she desperately needed one right now. Apparently it's not easy to get work even at the convenience store. Since it was close to the education district, there was already a long queue of students applying as temp workers around the area. She was already at her wits end. She already resorted to eating Sorn and Minnie ramen as her lunch or dinner just to save enough money for her bus trip today. When she got the call from Mina about her meeting with Jennie, never in a million years did she think she would be offered a job.
