Dear Pen,
I can honestly say I half expected whoever I sent the first letter to wouldn't bother to reply at all. So, I really am thankful for your answer and the extra credit you just helped me get. On the other hand to stay true to what I said in the first letter of wanting to get to know you – I quite like your idea of this game.
I didn't realise I just asked questions and didn't say anything about myself when I sat down to write it. I guess I wanted to get it done as soon as possible with the thought that I might have to write meaningless letters to more pen pals if you were not to reply. But you did, which makes these letters less meaningless now.
You say you don't like hot weather? I agree to slightly disagree with you. I don't mind hot weather that much, just because it reminds me of summer and summer means being away from school and not having to study or do homework. I agree on the sweating part, playing Quidditch sucks in any part of the day during summer, especially with the high sun in your eyes.
But I completely disagree about cooler temperatures, the wind doesn't agree with me (or my hair) in the autumn, winter is too cold, although snow makes it prettier. So, I would settle for spring all year round if I could.
Since you wanted to know more about me, here's the first information. I like Quidditch. I like playing it and I like watching it. I'm not going to say anything about Hogwarts Quidditch Teams since that would also be too much of a giveaway, whether I do play or not.
As for plans this summer I don't really have any in particular, other than an occasional visit to a friend's house and playing some Quidditch (I realise I wrote it three times already, you must think I'm obsessed or something). Oh, and I just remembered I'm going to the Quidditch World Cup in August (okay this is the last time I write Quidditch).
What about you? Any exciting plans in the hot summer days other than avoiding the heat?
Best regards
Pal

Dear Pal,
I'm glad I was able to surprise you, it doesn't happen to me so often in person. And it would be rather mean not to reply, I mean school spirit and all, 'I was just giving a helping hand to a schoolmate, no matter their Hogwarts House' or whatever professors are trying to force us to do.
I can't say I'm surprised about the whole Quidditch part in your previous letter, I mean no offence, but you are a guy, only pretentious ones don't like playing or watching Quidditch.
You wrote the word Quidditch a full six times, let's see if I can beat you. ;)
I also like Quidditch, like yourself I love playing it and watching it. Maybe the latter a bit more even because I really get into the games. And speaking of the matches I am also going to the Quidditch World Cup this year. Not to brag but I've also been to the final match in 1990. And if you haven't been to one before (I could kind of read the excitement in the sentence of your letter) I can't wait to hear your impression of it. Honestly, it can't even compare to watching Hogwarts matches or reading about any other Quidditch League in the Daily Prophet.
Just the atmosphere of Quidditch fans and the enormous pitch get you going. Even my Mum likes it although she isn't a fan of the game on a daily basis. I'm happy it's in England this year, it's close and a lot of people from Hogwarts will probably go and get to see it.
I'm going with my family, it's a bit of a tradition.
Are you going with your Quidditch-playing friends?
I think that's about it for my plans for this summer so far. I'm also definitely visiting my brother, who moved away right after he left Hogwarts. He visits our family home on a regular basis (as long as Mum promises him food) but I also really like where he lives, so he offers me to stay with him for a couple of days every summer.
If you are so into Quidditch as you say you are, which team is the best?
I'll answer that question after I hear your answer.
Until your next letter
PenP.S.: Seven times. I win.
