So Eren took advantage of his new position as he was now seen as one of the most trusted Marleian soldiers being promoted to a mere guard of the concentration area starting to climb the ranks more and more. 

At the same time, he was training his titan power more and more in isolated areas away from the eyes of the world to be able to control it much better. Thus, in just a few years, Eren managed to successfully master all abilities, especially the ATTACK titan's ability to see the memories of the possessors from the past and future, beginning to better understand Simon's plan and why he gave him this power.

Using this ability to its fullest Eren was also able to see the location of another titan among the 3 missing namely the PREDATOR titan who was enduring a fate harsher than death. 

Specifically it was held captive in a very isolated forest by a group of cannibals and used as a constant source of food due to the fact that it can regenerate. And also being chained he couldn't transform because he needs to consume blood to be able to assume his titan form. And even though he had known this for over a year Eren didn't seem interested in saving him even though Simon was trying to force Eren to retrieve him.

- Eren you must save the possessor of the PREDATOR titan.

- Simon? You again ? I still don't understand how I can hear you as if you were next to me!

- The ATTACK titan can see memories from previous owners like all other titans but can also receive memories from future owners. These memories can be people, places, events, or even entire years in the life of the future person who will inherit the power of the titan.

- I remember, that's how I learned about Armin, Mikasa and Carla even though I have no idea who they are.

- Exactly Eren. When these things happen the minds of the titan and the possessor sync into a timeless zone where space and time are virtually non-existent, that zone is called the PATHS and is what connects all Eldians. Your Titan has the unique ability to see through this area in a way that allows him to see the future. If you concentrate hard enough you can communicate with a past possessor through their memories. It is a technique that I have studied intensively but which I have never been able to master. Maybe you are much more talented than me Eren, and that's why you can hear my thoughts as if I were alive.

- And yet I still don't know who will inherit my titan after 15 years.

- I know. Remember that I studied the abilities of the titan 20 years and exploited them as much as I could. I felt like I was going crazy while I was using them.

You killed your sister without remorse, caused a massacre among the Eldians, had me kill the rest of them, and now you want me to save an idiot who was lucky enough to inherit a titan but was stupid enough to let him be caught by some savages. - And then what do you suggest I do?

- You must capture the PREDATOR titan. His power is too great not to be used. You can't do it alone. You will need all the help you can get.
