Poland's POV
Me and Hungary just continued to stare at each other as if the time has just stopped. It was so awkward, but it also felt like something about that kiss was special. We were both just dumbfounded.
"Uhm.." Hungary finally mumbled, breaking the silence as everyone else's eyes were on us. "That's... That was.. embarrassing." I mumbled before pulling further away from him, swallowing hard. Only did I notice my heart racing in my chest. What the fuck is happening.
"It sure was." Hungary cleared his throat.
Well, none of us said anything after that and the whole thing was embarrassing. The others were staring at us before they started laughing.
"Oh my fucking God! AHAHAHA!" Czechia exclaimed as he pointed at me. "You should see your face, dude! This is fucking hilarious!" He continued laughing as my face fell flat with annoyance. The others just agreed with him.... What kind of "friends" do I have??
Just kidding. Love them. After a good while of laughter, Hungary pulled up his twelve cards and we resumed playing, but the vibe just wasn't the same as before. It was much more tense and awkward. Hungary wasn't even looking at me. And I have to admit, it was bothering me. But just a bit.
...
No, a lot.
As I put down a card to keep the round going, I kinda just zoned out, staring down at the table. And I couldn't think of anything else other than that kiss... Hungary's kiss. It was actually the best kiss I've ever gotten. Soft and warm and so, so, s- "Hey, Poland. Your turn." Slovakia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "Ah, yes, yes." I mumbled, blinking a few times to gather my thoughts.
We played the round and Slovakia ended up winning. I have no idea how she does it, but she wins every time. And I swear we don't let her. It's like her superpower or some shit. I have no idea.
We played a lot of different games the whole evening and talked. It was fun, like always, but Hungary not even acknowledging me was getting under my skin.
After a while, we just ended up talking and when Hungary got up to get himself a drink, I went right after him, so we could be alone.
"Hey, Hun." I spoke up as he filled his glass with Cola. "Are you ignoring me right now?" I asked, trying to sound teasing but in a friendly type of way with a smirk.
"Huh? No, ofcourse not." He replied as he turned around to face me. "Just... I thought if we talked, it would be more awkward." He explained, his voice quieting down as he glanced away.
I laughed at that. Awkward? Why would it be awkward to talk? I asked myself. "It doesn't make anything awkward. It was accidental." I said, trying to be reassuring. "Remember that time I accidentally fell face first onto Check's crotch?" I asked him with raised eyebrows, amused myself that I actually brought that up.
"Ah, yeah, and he got hard." He continued with a laugh. "I guess that was more awkward than accidentally kissing." He chuckled. I loved seeing him laugh. Made him look so much better.
"See?" I laughed along. "There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Now come on, let's go back to the others, yeah?" I suggested, patting his shoulder, which he nodded to.
We had a great talk after that like we always do. I felt like I won the friend group lottery.
It was about 9PM when Slovakia and Czechia decided to leave, because they had some family stuff next day morning and needed to sleep. So that left 5 of us and we just kept talking.
A good half an hour or so later, Germany checked his watch. "Hey, guys, it's already half past nine. Shouldn't we get going?" He asked. Honestly, if I didn't know Hungary and his brothers, I'd think Germany was the older one based on his height, appearance and also maturity. You would be surprised too.
"Yeah, maybe." Austria also agreed with him while Lithuania nodded. Traitor. Hungary looked at me as if he wanted me to decide and I just shrugged.
They eventually all decided to leave. Yes, they left me. Left me to be miserable alone.... Just kidding. I had a fun time alone... Watching series! Haha, you thought.
***
The weekend went amazing. I went on a hike with my brother and dad. Mom probably watched us from above. I never knew her, sadly. And I hate to say it, but Lithuania is actually only my halfbrother. But I view him as my full sibling. He's honestly the best little brother ever.
Anyways, I woke up on Monday morning, feeling a bit disappointed that it's the beginning of the week again. But then I quickly cheered up, because I could see my bestest best friend.
I went to school with Lithuania, but sadly we had to part ways since he's a year below us.
I went to put my stuff down in the classroom where my first class was, then checked Hungary's timetable, because he obviously sent it to me. I quickly figured out that he was on the ground floor, so I paid him a visit. I peeked inside the classroom, and saw him sitting with his back turned to me, probably on his phone. I decided to creep up on him and surprise him.
I did just that, taking quiet steps, even though over the noise of the classroom and the halls I couldn't be heard anyways. I stood right behind him, then with a sudden movement I grabbed his shoulders. "HEY Hungary!" I yelled and he jumped so hard he dropped his phone. He even screamed as I laughed at him. It was kind of weird though, because he never reacted this strongly to my jumpscares.
I didn't wait for him to turn around and just sat down on the chair next to him, one hand still on his shoulder. "What's up, man?" I asked, grinning ear to ear.
He slowly turned towards me and I couldn't help but notice a purplish-green little bruise above his left eyebrow. "That was not funny dude." He said with a fake chuckle. I knew it was fake because his eyes were so... emotionless. Like he wasn't even happy that I was there.
I didn't even try to hide my concern. "What happened?" I asked, grabbing his forehead and bringing his hair out of his face. "Hey-" Hungary tried to protest. "Answer me." I insisted. "What happened here?" I repeated myself, pressing a finger on his bruise, making him wince a bit.
"I-I just tripped." He said as he tried to get my hands off of his head, but I didn't budge. "That's the best excuse you got?" I asked again.
"I swear! I tripped and banged the doorframe." He said the same thing, so I knew I couldn't get it out of him there and then. I let go with a sigh. "Fine." I grumbled. "I know it's not from that, though. I can see right through you, Hungary. Will you tell me?" I asked, insisting that he tells me rather later than never.
He looked to the side for a moment with a frown on his face. I couldn't tell if he was angry at me, guilty, or just hurting. "Yes, I will. ... Once." He mumbled.
I gave him a friendly slap on his shoulder. "Good." I grinned. "Come over later today then?" I suggested.
He shrugged. "Maybe. If I won't have to deal with our exchange student." He said, turning on a light switch in my head. "IT'S THIS WEEK?!" I blurted out as I have completely forgotten about the exchange student week.
Hungary just nodded with his deadpan, depressed face. He's always been like this and I know what he's dealt with in the past, but he's working on it and I'm proud of him. So, so proud. "Oh, fuck, I forgot my class headmaster assigned me to give the exchange student a tour." I groaned as I facepalmed myself. "I better hurry to be there before the bells ring. See ya, Hun!" I said as I ruffled his hair.
"See you, Poles." He said in that soft tone he sometimes uses with me, and only with me. I grinned widely at him before exiting the classroom.
