(Name) and Percy walked through the halls of their school. They were heading towards their final period of the day, which was study hall.

Lining the halls were several flyers advertising the most daunting upcoming school event—Homecoming.

The last time (Name) had been able to experience Homecoming had been in fifth grade, if he remembered correctly. Back then, all he was able to do was go to the pep rally and the Homecoming game, which was fun, but now that he was in the eighth grade, he was able to actually participate in it.

I mean, you wouldn't catch him running for Homecoming Queen or anything—the dresses weren't too flattering on him—but that didn't mean he didn't find a way to worm into getting the school ready for the event.

The two boys stepped into the library and found their way to a table with three other people around their age—two girls and a boy.

"(Name)! Percy!" The boy exclaimed, snapping his head over to them. "Ava is being a bitch!"

Even if it was study hall, no one really studied in the library. Normally, the librarian would shush anyone who got too loud, but (Name) was pretty sure the woman was only in this for the paycheck and didn't really care about to job too much, or at least not enough to enforce the main rule of a library. He could respect it.

"Not a bitch," one of the girls spoke, "you just can't handle the truth."

Ava was one of (Name)'a favorite people at this school, honestly. She had even more problems sitting still than him and Percy combined. She played volleyball, was a cheerleader at football games, and got paid under the table for helping her mom deliver packages. She had brown skin and dark curls that hung to her chin. Dark brown eyes twinkled with energy as she teased the boy.

"She told him that he won't find a date for the homecoming dance," the other girl explained to Percy and (Name) as they sat down.

This was Mila, who was the complete opposite of Ava. She was quiet and calm. Taking part in no extracurricular activities, she spent most of her free time listening to music or being dragged around by Ava. Her hair was light and straight and flowed down her back. Intelligent hazel eyes laid behind her glasses and complimented her fair skin.

"If I can't get a date, then no way can these two," the boy grumbled, crossing his arms.

And finally, this was Miles. He was the usual target of Ava's teasing, thought he knew it was all in good fun, so it didn't bother him. He was extremely easy to get along with as well. His hair was styled in locs that fell to his ears and his eyes were a dark brown.

(Name) was friendly with a lot of people at this school, but he found that he liked the company of these three the most.

"That's different," Ava waved Miles off. "Percy is too caught up on his mystery girl that he won't tell us anything about but claims that she actually exists—"

"I'm not caught up on anyone," Percy replied, "and Annabeth does exist. Just ask (Name)."

"No idea who he's talking about," the green-eyed boy shrugged.

"Dude!"

(Name) laughed at him. "Okay, yeah, Annabeth is real. She's cu—...well, she's nic—..Wow, this is hard...She's certainly a girl. So even if Percy's taste is in question, his sexuality is not. We'll love you no matter what, by the way Percy."

"Great," he dryly stated. "Anyway, you guys are going to the dance?"

"Ava is making me go," Mila answered.

"I have to prove Ava wrong," Miles replied.

"And just like that, I've gotten them to go," Ava said, proud of herself. "What about you two?"
