I screamed and ran over to Darry, falling to my own knees.

"Ohmygod! Darry?!?!" I screamed as years began to stream down my face. I started to shake and I kept asking what I could do to help.

"Beth! I'm fine, it's not that bad. Just help me up." He replied, sounding a lot like our father.

"Okay. Dally! Soda! Steve! Come help me!" I yelled helping Darry to his feet. They ran over and helped me, but Darry was having a real hard time so they picked him up and carried him back to the house. Once we got there, Darry was unconscious so we took him to his room and left him there to sleep. I was literally freaking out because I'd never seen Darry look so weak. I walked out of his room and sat on the couch. Dally came over and sat beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"Everything's gonna be alright baby." He said, trying to comfort me. I snuggled in closer to him and buried my head in his shirt and let the tears fall.

"I-I hope so. He's all Soda, Pony and I h-have left." I said, sobbing.

"You'll always have me. I promise I will always be here for you. I love you more than anything in the world, and nothing will ever happen as long as I'm here. Babe, you are my whole world." Dally said as he kissed me on top of the head.

"I love you too. More than anything, and I know now that you'll always be mine." I replied, pulling him towards me for a kiss. Which he returned with as much passion as me. When we pulled away, we were both breathless and smiling like fools. Just then, Two-Bit walked through the door.

"How's Darry doin'?" He asked coming to sit beside me.

"He's sleeping right now, but I think he'll be fine." I replied while Dally squeezed my shoulders.

"I know he'll be okay baby." Dally added in as Two-Bit went to the kitchen. Then Dally started massaging my shoulders to try and get me to relax.

*********

I woke up around 4 AM, and moved Dally's arm from around me. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water then went to check on Darry. I slowly opened the door and quietly walked in. I looked at his peaceful face and kissed him on the cheek. He looked so calm, almost like sculpture. Then I realized that he was too still. I frantically checked his pulse and couldn't find one.

"DALLY!!!! SODA!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed. Then called 911 and told them what happened. Dally burst through the door just as I hung up the phone.

"What's wrong?!!?" He asked, panicked.

"I-I can't find a-a pulse on Darry!" I cried. Just then, Soda came in too. So I explained it all again. Soda grabbed me and clung to me until the ambulance showed up and took Darry to the hospital. I broke down then and started to cry even harder than before. There was no way Darry could die, what would we do without him?!

"Hey Beth? Honey? We can go to the hospital if you want?" Dally said as he knelt beside me and brushed a few strands of hair from my face.

"Th-that'd be g-g-great." I replied through sobs. He helped me up and him, Soda and I drove to the hospital. Once we got there, Dally went to the desk and talked to the nurses. He came back a few minutes later and grabbed my hand.

"The nurse said that he's in surgery right now. Turns out that his wound got infected. Beth, there's a chance he might not-"

"Don't say it." I interrupted him. He looked at me with a pained expression and bowed his head.

"Beth, you have to listen to me. There's a chance he might not be able to work again, but only a small one." He explained, cupping my face with his hands. I looked at him and nodded, then pulled away and watched the cars drive by.

Hours later, a doctor came over and wanted to talk to me and Soda about Darry. I've never been so nervous or scared before. I had a feeling the news was going to be bad. My brother was dead, I just knew it...
