(George Pov)

I was so stressed as I left work and parted ways with Karl. I had no idea how I was going to manage getting to work early and leaving late. I had no one to look after my kids. During Winter holiday and other holidays I could always rely on Darryl who along with Zak would look after Charlette and the twins while I was at work. I knew I couldn't ask them to help with this though. Zak was busy a lot with his job as a social services case worker, and Darryl was swamped with work during the school year. There was no way they'd be able to help.

My mind was racing so badly I almost walked out into traffic. The driver honked their horn at me and flipped me off.

I was too upset and confused to be bothered by it and continued to simply go about my way. I was so lost in thought I didn't even pay much attention to my surroundings until I got to the Head start.

I forced a reassuring smile as I walked into the building and up to the receptionist. The woman behind the desk looks up at me and give me a disapproving look. I was confused by the look, I knew I didn't have money but the woman typically kept her judgmental opinion to herself.

The woman grumbled, "Mr. Reed is waiting for you in his office. He wants to talk to you about your... daughter." I ignore the anger welling up inside at the way this woman refers to one of my angels and I walk off to Darryl's office.

Darryl's office had a nice wooden door with a none see through pane of glass with an image on it of kids playing with building blocks. I smiled and opened the door. Immediately I was hit with the smell of pumpkins. Darryl loved fall and kept his office smelling like a pumpkin patch.

I looked and noticed Oliver and Liam were playing with some play food that was too big to put in their mouths and Charlette was playing with a Barbie doll. She was combing her hair and putting a cute outfit on the doll. My heart swelled up seeing her having fun.

Darryl sat at his desk and nodded a serious look on his face. I gulped feeling nervous, he never looked like that.

"George... I'm afraid there was an accident today."

I panicked and quickly rushed over to the twins first checking them then to Charlette checking her as well. She whined when I made her drop her Barbie but I ignored it and sighed out in relief when I saw both she and her brothers were OK.

Darryl gave me a sympathetic look but he shook his head and it faded.

"George I-I'm sorry."

I looked confused. "What are you sorry for?"

He just sighed. "Apparently Charlette got into a fight with a little boy in her class. She claims the boy had been bullying her, but the teacher claims she's lying and she hit the boy unprovoked."

"What do you mean! You don't honestly believe that Charlette would lie about something like that do you Darryl?" I practically screamed fuming with anger.

Darryl looked at me and sighed, he reached behind his head and scratched the ball of hair he had to put his long hair into during the day. He gave me a sympathetic look, "Look George, I'm not calling Charlette a liar. I believe she's telling the truth about the incident. However its a four year old's word against her teacher and another boy. A boy who happens to be the son of one of the schools most wealthiest benefactors. I've tried to set up a meeting between you and him to sort things out."

I sighed, I really hated this. It wasn't fair that my baby girl was having to go through this and I, her father, couldn't do anything to defend her with out possibly getting her kicked out of the school.
