March 7th x f!reader
(3rd pov!)

Not in all her years of immortality would she have thought to be lectured by a time traveler about the importance of time—time is fluid construction even more breakable than glass and of more significance than one life—if an anomaly were to take place they'd simply have to choose the greater good over that lost soul. One loSt life is a tragedy. Everything beyond one is a number, which people would never comprehend the harm off, while the sacrificed soul would be celebrated as a hero. As long as they were safe, they'd never had to see these numbers their brains could barely comprehend in real time, after all it would keep them safe by holding their comprehension back of this crucial part.

March would regularly find her in the same old location, under a hanging tree in a field of flowers—when the sun would meet the horizon in warm orange and a calming pink.

March met her there every 50 years, which was nothing for a creature like herself who existed merely to breathe. She lost her spark a long time ago. Y/n, on the other hand, was a time traveler who visited her every 2 weeks, for March, it took 50, for Y/n 2 weeks and any time they met was something the pink haired young woman would look forward too, one time she even braided a few of her streaks and put on her nicest clothes.

She remembered what Y/n said to March, "Till time do us apart," her laugh echoed in her ears, the softest chuckle reaching March's ears. It sounded like such an overestimation, but she felt somewhat blessed to learn about the existence of this time traveler. She changed her life in a quiet, subtle manner.

"Yeah, til time do us apart." she scoffed. She never realized it was a cry for help.

"Like, you're the one to talk! You're immortal." Y/n protested. She had a rather solid point there, although it wasn't easy to date a time travelerer with a sassy attitude sometimes.

"And you're a time traveler, my love," she laughed, cracking a smile. It curled more loosely around her lips than she'd expect of herself. A simple surprise, but at that realization, her smile widened into a smirk.

The warm hand of her girlfriend met hers, it would be undoubtedly be her doom.

A few months went by for her girlfriend, March knew that it was too much of a risk for Y/n to visit her every week, it would be her doom. She wouldn't want to put her in danger, nor has she tried to. Y/n on the other side was far from reckless, but also all the same close to ruthless. The equality in her duality was impressive to March. She hadn't met such a person in quite the while, there were many types of people she'd met on such a long lived journey, but not once had she met someone like her girlfriend, soft spoken, composed, kind and yet worse than ruthless.

She was playing with a fire she didn't know how to control nor diminish. It was a game that was dangerous to play.

March didn't remember the last time she felt any connection or remorse to the fact that her girlfriend killed people in the name of her institution.

She didn't know, she didn't care. she lost that connection to nature long ago to feel basic human empathy. She had lived long enough to not even be human anymore, to strip it off herself and stare at them like they were dust. If someone were to ask her about it, she'd say she was a shadow of herself, a dust particle below a rug behind a barrier.

It impacted her perception of Y/n quite a lot when she met her first when she was arresting someone a few 100 years ago. She brushed it off, thinking she was a person with noble pursuits.

"I'm supposed to find the anomaly. There's always this interrupted failing signal around me." she scoffed, March smiled and took her into a warm embrace that lessened the stiffness in Y/n's muscles.

The brief, but sweet kiss on the cheek made Y/n crack a smile.

200 years later or 2 months lster for Y/n, was when March met her again. This time she was ready to confess the words that had welled up in her chest.

She stood in front of the flashing portal. In the moment Y/n sat her first step out of it, her heart throbbed. A smile build on her face as she noticed the way that Y/n no longer seemed as stiff as before. Her agitated face was relaxed, from a frown to lips turning into a thin line.

She stepped out, but she was not talking or addressing March at all. The young immortal woman had not picked up on it. She simply complied with the silent phases a long time ago, and she knew Y/n wasn't as talkative as her.

"Hey Y/n, guess what," March hummed, "I love—" a sharp noise pierced her ears, and shot her chest, it began to sting and arch in her, she chocked on the little breath she had left, before blood as dark as death came out.

She coughed and shielded the blood off with her hand. Her knees grew weak, and little by little, they lost all of their strength until she was close to her breaking point. She gasped for air, holding—no, clenching onto the back of Y/n's jacket.

"Y/n.." she whispered, "Why.." the tone in her voice declined, and soon she was no longer audible, uttering words only she knew in mind.

And there with that bullet in her chest, as much as it stung and arched, it was the first thing she felt in 500 years, the spark she lost returned and all she remembered was how to feel fear loosing it. You were the one giving and taking her spark.

"I can grant you immortality in exchange for a sacrifice."

That was the sacrifice—she was the tragedy that would be written down in history books, but with no one left to truly love her, what was it worth? How would it impact her legacy that was left in crumbles and dust.

Why save a number when, at the end of the day, it remains one. She used to think. What was the point in it anymore? March was the same. She had no value. She was the necessity to get rid of. She was nothing other than a number, too, to sacrifice after all.

A person to expose, that was all that she was as she bled out in the field. All the time she spend with Y/n was never a waste and yet without the blink of an eye, Y/n disposed of her and threw their relationship away.

No hesitation at all.

There was something she hadn't felt in a long time, not in a half eternity at least, desperation that hunted her down while her blood boiled stronger than before.

The careless young woman, turned back to being that naive young girl, finally recovered the beauty in the world and found this old, sparky feeling. It was too late to reverse the damage, only now as she stared in the sunset, she realized her mistakes. If only, she learned to appreciate the worth of a human life, her own, and the impact the world had on her with its beauty. Her hands covered her eyes from the world as she shed a last tear. She no longer wanted to see the world for its beauty, or it would make her leave with the biggest regret she had encountered yet.
