Penny's POV:
"-and caterpillars don't have lungs, which is interesting cause their guts just move on their own ..." Sabrina was talking excitedly about caterpillars, again, and Penny couldn't help but listen, especially when it made her daughter smile so wide, her hands shaking with excitement as she talked about the insect. Penny sipped her coffee as she listened. "-also the average caterpillars have twelve eyes! "
"Having twelve eyes would be pretty cool." Penny encouraged making her daughter's smile widen even more at Penny's input. She shook her hands excitedly and nodded her head.
"Yeah, caterpillars are so cool mom, they have-" Sabrina continued to tell Penny how great caterpillars were when her ten year old came downstairs."Mom!?!" She yelled interrupting Sabrina who immediately looked deflated at being interrupted.
"Harley, your sister was talking." Penny kindly stated, taking another sip of her coffee, wondering how today was going to go based on how Harley responded.
"Sorry Breena. But I was just gonna ask if you'd still take me to Sam's today?!" Harley pleaded and Penny sighed heavily."Honey, I can't. I've got Breena's appointment at three, and your dad is taking Andy to that daddy daughter toddler class at two thirty. You can tag along with me, and I'll drop you off after your sister's appointment, if that works Honey." Penny offered as she kissed the top of Sabrina's head, taking her coffee cup to refill it. Penny ruffled Harley's hair as she went grabbing the coffee pot.
"But mooom Sam's grandma was gonna take us to the movies at three!" Harley complained, with a loud groan. Penny sighed heavily at her oldest's complaint. She was too tired for this. She quickly refilled her cup, turning to face her daughter tiredly.
"I'm sorry, but I can't cancel and neither can your dad... Maybe you guys can go another time." Penny started to reason and Harley huffed crossing her arms.
"Sam and I planned this weeks ago, I asked you last night and you said it was okay!" Harley snapped kicking in the chair Penny had been sitting at. Penny rubbed her temples feeling drained. A lot had happened the last few days, her mom being admitted to the hospital being one of them. It had been her turn to sit with her last night to give her dad a break. Penny was exhausted."Harley, that's not how we express ourselves, I'm very sorry I forgot-" Penny started to chastise her oldest but Harley just stomped up the stairs without a word. Sabrina carefully slid from her chair and scampered away. Penny sighed heavily as Phillip came down the stairs, holding a newly dressed and clean toddler in his hands.
"All clean and ready to go!" Phillip proudly stated spinning Andy around, making her giggle. Penny smiled slightly at the pink heart splattered tutu her youngest was wearing complete with a matching shirt and socks.
"Daddy fun yay!" Andy cheered as Phillip put her in her booster seat at the table. Penny sipped her coffee, loving the interaction between Phillip and their baby. He was a good dad."What's up Pen?" He asked as he brought down one of Andy's plastic little bowls and popped a piece of bread in the toaster. Before he turned to eye his wife sympatheticly and Penny sighed, leaning against him slightly.
"I just am...tired...now Harley's mad at me...I don't know how to juggle it all..." She sighed, letting her eyes slip closed as Phillip rubbed up and down her arm comfortingly. When the toast popped Andy cheered, kicking her little legs as she clapped her hands.
"Yummy, yummy toastie to eat!" She sang as Phillip carefully maneuvered from Penny's side and began buttering Andy's toast. He carefully cut the food into bite sized pieces before he grabbed a squeezy applesauce and placed the food in front of the little blonde."Bon appetit ma princesse!" He proclaimed with a exaggerated bow that made Andy giggle and kick her feet excitedly.
"Thank ya Daddy!" She exclaimed before she started sloppily eating as soon as Phillip got the bib around her. Once he was sure his youngest was settled he quickly returned to his tired wife's side."Anything I can do?" He whispered softly as he brushed aside her hair from her face. Penny sighed heavily, placing her empty mug in the sink as she gripped the edge.
"I just feel so overwhelmed, apparently Harley had some plan to go to the movies with Sam and I okayed it! But I can't take her now...I don't know what to do!" Penny sighed heavily and Phillip chuckled softly."Well, I'll just call up Sam's grandma and ask if I can drop her off at like one o'clock or something. Ya know before I take Andy girl!" He exclaimed with a grin and Penny threw her arms around him.
"What would I do without you!?" She whispered softly and he chuckled beginning to hum an old song as he swayed back and forth with Penny in the kitchen."You and I Penelope were meant to be, we go together like peanuts and popcorn!" He chuckled, singing playfully as Penny laughed. "You are the swirly stars in my oatmeal!" Both of them laughed as they danced around the kitchen and Phillip sang his song from years ago, when they were just kids.
"What are you doing?" Harley stated coming into the kitchen, Sabrina in tow. Andy was clapping along from her booster seat at the table."Your dad sang that song to me when we were younger." Penny explained with a breathless smile as Phillip chuckled softly and continued to sing the song.
"And you still decided to marry him?" Harley asked dryly. Phillip faked indignation, as he gasped dramatically.
"I'll have you know, little miss that your mother loved my songs!" He stated playfully and Andy giggled. "Here I was gonna pull strings to help you get to the movie, but maybe I'm too sad because my daughter hates my music!" Phillip said faking sadness as he pretended to droop sadly and jut out his bottom lip. Harley quickly surged forward grabbing her dad's arm."Did I say that I hated the songs! I love them! Like they're so catchy!" Harley backpedaled as she flashed her dad her best smile. Penny and Phillip shared a look before they burst into laughter. Phillip tugged Harley close and kissed the top of her head.
"Oh if only that were true!" He chuckled goodnaturedly as Harley pouted slightly.
"Okay, I'm lying, it stinks, but please take me to the movies anyways!" She pleaded making her parents laugh again. Penny smiled slightly, especially when her dad iris messaged her, and her mom was upright and happy in the back."Mom, it's so good to see you awake!"
