"Subject 192... Angel... please find a supervisor..." the Intercom in the cafeteria sounded.
Angel has been a subject inside the facility for... who knows how long. They were kept in containment for who in hell knows why. Apparently... they and other special people are the keys for research breakthroughs in saving humanity. Angel never knew what life was like outside these cold stone walls, never knew what a family was or the love of siblings. They were sniffing the flower they were given from free time, taking in the wonderful scent it had.
Angel places the flower inside their pocket and gets up from their cafeteria table, they usually sit alone most times away from the other human test subjects, and today was no difference. But they were called up for some strange reason... so they went off to find one of the staff caretakers.
Angel looks around the cafeteria, an adult was standing in the middle of the room looking for someone. They guessed that the adult was looking for them, so they walked towards them, scooching past every table.
The adult looks at Angel and smiles, "Ah, you're Angel right?" Angel responds by nodding their head, causing the adult to speak again, "Well then, follow me Angel. We have some... bits of interest we would like to discuss with you dear." The adult then walks through the main door to the cafeteria, beckoning for Angel to follow them.
Angel follows the adult outside the cafeteria, they were walking down the hallways towards one of the scientist's offices. They knock on the door of a scientist by the name of Keil Harnor. This scientist was known to be one of the more friendly staff members, so Angel knew they were going to be fine... probably...
The person inside the room was indeed Keil Harnor, and they had a warm smile as they opened the door. They motioned for Angel to come inside. "Come in!"
Angel steps inside and immediately heads for Harnor's little play corner, he kept toys and books for the children that came to his office for appointments. For what appointment they were in here for, they did not know.
After the scientist finished talking with the adult, the adult left as the scientist closed the door. He then spoke. "Why hello Angel! Nice to see you on this fine day!" The scientist used his usual friendly and polite tone.
Angel only stared at him, they weren't much of a talker... the scientist spoke again however. "You know why I set up an appointment with you right?"
Angel responds by shaking their head, and waiting for an explanation for why they were taken from their lunch time. The scientist spoke once again. "I wanted to conduct a hypothesis on your senses you see... I've been told you had an excellent sense of smell correct?"
Angel nods, their sense of smell was extraordinarily exceptional, being able to smell their favorite type of color from miles away... even though colors have no smell.
The scientist smiles. "Would you... mind helping me in understanding your sense of smell?" He then walks over to his little storage cabinet and takes out some sealed canisters of what appears to be preserved flowers. The flowers inside had different wonderful scents that flooded Angel's nose, causing them to sneeze. The scientist chuckles in response, "Ah, you seem your nose is a lot more keen than usual." He reseals the canister and places it back inside the cabinet.
Angel looks up at him, with their blank expression of course. The scientist looks at them and they stare at each other for a bit while maintaining eye contact before looking away as the scientist starts typing something on their computer. "Well... Angel, I know how you prefer writing down or using body language to enact your responses, so I'll give you a small piece of paper." The scientist takes out a sheet of paper and grabs a pencil from their small tin cup on their desk.
Angel just stares at the paper and pencil, before looking back up at the scientist who speaks once again. "Do you mind... telling me what you can smell right now?"
Angel nods and closes their eyes, taking in the scent of their surroundings... they smelled... the sweet and beautiful scent of the flower in their pocket... the tangy smell from the marker ink... the aroma of something cooked with spices... and the scientist's familiar scent of whatever deodorant he used. Angel opens her eyes again, seeing the scientist looking right at them with interest.
"Hm... do you mind writing down what you smelled?" the scientist asks. Angel nods and picks up the pencil, writing down everything they were able to smell. The scientist waits and reads what they wrote. "Well, you do seem to have an exceptional sense of smell..."
The scientist then looks at Angel and smiles, "Alright Angel, that's all I wanted to know. I'll call your supervisor to escort you back to your room since your lunch has rather ended."
Angel blinks and nods, a knock can be heard on the door. The scientist walks over and opens it, revealing the same person who brought them here. Angel then walks over to the adult and leaves the scientist's office.
