Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

BEEP.

BE-

"I've had enough, shut up already!" I snarl, slamming my fist down onto my black clock. When I look down at it, I see that it is smashed into thousands of pieces.

"Jeez, I'm lucky I bought this cheap plastic thing instead of a glass alarm clock," I mutter as I rub my eyes and let out a low yawn, stretching my arms.

(If you chose to be a fox, foxes make those kinda 'yip' sounds.)

"God.. how many hours of sleep did I get..?" I get out of bed, scratching my head as I walk to my bathroom mirror, staring at myself.

I zone out, staring at myself for a good five minutes.

When it suddenly comes to me,

"Crap.. I forgot about what happened last night."
I groan in annoyance, my yellow irises shining in the dimly lit bathroom.

"I'll have to talk to Haida at work then." I grumble, starting my routine of getting dressed and brushing my dagger-like teeth.

"Huh?" I narrow my eyes, my teeth look sharper from when I last checked them.
Maybe I just forgot to trim them down.

If I didn't trim them I'd look feral.. haha..

I arrived at work and was relieved to find that the train wasn't too crowded. After entering the elevator, I saw Fenneko, a colleague of mine.

"Hey," she greeted me with a smile.

"What's up?" I replied, returning the smile.

"I should be asking you that. You didn't reply to any of my texts last night, and you're always available. Neither did Haida," she said, sounding suspicious.

I panicked. Fenneko was an expert at uncovering things she wasn't supposed to know. She knew me too well, and I knew her too well.

"I was asleep. I had a long day at work, so I decided to take a nap," I quickly lied. The elevator was moving too slowly.

"Mhmm," she hummed suspiciously, eyeing me. She was about to say something, but I quickly got out of the elevator as soon as the doors opened.

Fenneko was on to me, and I couldn't let her find out any more.

And.. work started.

Retuskos getting piles of files dumped on her to check over...

"I guess.. I've been giving you more work than you can deal with by yourself.." the lizard lady hums.

Well, no shit Sherlock.

"I never would've piled it on you like this if you weren't so.. trustworthy." Retusko's eyes light up with hope.

"In other words.. THE LONGER YOU KEEP DOING MY WORK THE EASIER ITLL BECOME!" She snaps, and retuskos is taken off guard.

You know what, after the lizard is done I'll offer to help.
She piles more and more work on retusko, laughing like a maniac.

"Perhaps I wonder if Mister Ton could help out on all of this?" I spoke up just as the lizard was about to walk away. She turned back to me, and I could see that she was blushing.

She giggled. "Oh, he's busy. I chose Retusko~" I heard a few feminine giggles around the office, but I couldn't quite locate them.

I couldn't help but wonder why she was standing so close to me. And why is Ton STILL practicing his golf swings rather than doing boss work?

"Well, I could help out-" I turn to Retusko, but the lady pulls me back by the collar of my shirt. Okay, this is messed up.

"Oh don't worry your handsome little head, haha!" She releases her death grip on my collar and walks away.

What the hell was that about?

"You don't know?" Fenneko speaks up.
"Hmm?" I turn to look at fenneko.

"At least half of the girls in this department have been crushing on you, it's crazy dude!.." fenneko whisper shouts.

Huh?
Oh..

"Half..?!" I panic.
"Yeah.. including her.. eugh." Fenneko motions to the lizard.

"Well tell them in not interested then..!" I hiss, trying to focus on my work. But I am a bit flustered, half of the department? I don't need girls coming up to me constantly.

Now I just feel annoyed and need to calm myself down.

Work doesn't end for another 3 hours.. and my break is in 30 minutes.

Crap..

"Yeah, we deserve a vacation!" Mr Ton and his loyal meerkat exclaimed, constantly batting the golf club. It was only making me more annoyed. Suddenly, Retsuko and I both sat up at the same time and headed to the bathroom.

"I think I need a break," I muttered.

"I think I need a break too," Retsuko agreed.

"Retsuko, what's up?" Fenneko says to a tired-looking retusko. I'm sitting at a table wot the two, just enjoying my lunch which I happened to bring this time.

Avoiding Haida has been pretty easy so far.
So far. But he's standing right by our table. Something is bound to happen...

"I'm not saying you looked wrecked but your face reminds me of a grandma right now."

I chuckle at Fennekos's insult, trying to take my mind off of the menacing aura coming from Haida.

"Work.." she groans.

"You're responsible." Me, Haida and Fenneko say in unison.

"I bet you read all of the agreements when you download a new app on your phone in the terms of service." Fenneko guesses.

"That's exactly what Puko said!" Puko? Dunno her.

"I bet your saving for when you are old and gray!" Haida guesses, more enthusiastically than fenneko.
His closeness makes me shiver a little. Why? It's not even cold in here dammit!

"She said that too!"

"Okay double or nothing I bet you buy socks you don't even want because you feel and walking out of a store empty-handed!."I  quickly say.

"You all are starting to freak me out!" Retsuko looks scared, but she also looks flustered.

"That means you're no better than a company robot who's ensnared by corporate expectations." Fenneko has ruined the mood, great.

I just roll my eyes, sitting back and drinking my coffee.

_____________

"Acting like a team player all the time has gotta suck." Fenneko says, we are now walking down the hallway, going back to hell.

Retusko looks miserable, I feel bad for her.

"Fenneko she's had enough negativity from you," I growl, rolling my eyes as Fenneko just laughs.

Yeah..she's your friend, but she can't always be heartless!

Fenneko and Retsuko decided to meet after work to have a few drinks. During their conversation, Fenneko suddenly slammed her beer down on the table and declared, "You know, there's something going on between Haida and [Y/N] that we don't know about!"

Retusko looked surprised and asked, "You think so?"

Fenneko replied, "The other night, neither of them responded to their texts, and they always do, no matter the situation! I think they met up."

Retusko, confused, tilted her head and asked, "And what's the big deal about that?"

Fenneko responded, "They were giving me vibes that they hated each other!"

Retusko tried to calm Fenneko down by suggesting that they could just be getting along. However, Fenneko's stubbornness was unwavering, and she remained convinced that something was going on between Haida and [Y/N].
