It has been a month since I began living with my uncle, aunt, and cousins. I have been going to school with the humans, and it has been tiring. I have to hunt much more often now that I walk with the sun. I have been learning about this hero business, and about my classmates. I know all of their names and quirks. This new life is terrifying and tiring, but I am living it with my family.
I groan as the sun rises, I am not meant to be up with the blasted star. I stand up and look at my room, it contains all of my belongings from my cave and little else. Eri keeps making me drawings, those are on my walls.
"Perhaps we should go to the mall with the young humans after all?" Frost chuckles, his deep voice rumbling in my head. I nod, I wonder if Shinsou was invited, everyone seems to be scared of him.
I get dressed and grab the bag my uncle bought for me, and head into the kitchen. Auntie is singing and cooking, just like every morning. This morning is different; however, there are new people at the table, mixed in with familiar faces. I watch silently from the doorway, no one noticing my entrance.
"We want to meet her!" a bule haired boy says, his voice is rough. Next to him appears to be a wolf person, they are holding hands.
"She may need more time to adjust, and we need to know her intentions first," a black-haired man with horrid scars says. His voice is deep and thoughtful. A blonde girl nods and fiddles with a knife.
"I believe she was invited to go to the mall with her classmates on Saturday, we could watch her then?" Denki, from my class says. He is acting different, but I can't place how.
"I was, and my intentions have been stated clearly multiple times," I sigh. Alerting everyone to my presence, they seemed shocked. I pour a glass of milk and sit in the empty seat to my uncles left.
"That you have, little bat." My uncle chuckles, "They are to learn about humans and rebuild your clan, yes?"
"Indeed, who are these humans?" I ask, sniffing the air gently. Frost enters the room, and sits by his plate, awaiting breakfast.
"These are my clan: Shigaraki, Toga, Touya, Hawks, Aki, Shinsou, Denki, and Zashi. They live here, in scent proof rooms that are concealed." Uncle explains, he appears nervous.
"I see, are you considered these 'villains' everyone is always talking about?" I ask, memorizing their scents. They nod, appearing to be ready for a fight.
"You are the people of my uncle, a subset of my clan." I say, sipping my milk, "Pleased to meet you all. I hope you will join the clan fully."
"That was easy..." Touya says, picking up some toast. Eri comes running in and squeals, she jumps into the scarred ones arms.
"UNCLE DABI!" she giggles, so very loud in the morning. Breakfast is eaten in relative silence, as I watch the others carefully.
"Humans have unique gifts, but no tattoos. But Father had no such gift?" I ask, quietly.
"The tattoos are visible to you, dear. And Takeshi was born without a quirk, that is how he met Fuyuki." Auntie says, with a smile. I nod, a story for another time, now we must head to school.
"Don't tell anyone that we are in a pack, got it?" the scarred man says, bule flames rise from his hand. I tilt my head at his sad threat, I move much faster than any human, but it is cute.
"Remember how at school we teach that villains must be defeated?" Uncle says, standing, "Well, everyone here has been scorned by the heroes. We watch them from the inside and take out threats. It is your choice the path you choose, of course, but I must keep my pack safe."
"You will have to tell me your stories, but I understand," I say. I walk away, and head to the car. I apply sunscreen and sit in the back seat awaiting accompaniment.
A lot of new information has been brought to me. I did not understand the hero and villain thing in the first place, I thought it had something to do with Day walkers and Night walkers. I hope to get a clan started so we can return to the forest, this human business is annoying and needlessly complicated.
Frost hops in and I let him into my tattoo as Shinsou, Denki, Aunt, and Uncle get into the car. I had explored every inch of the house; how did I not find the concealed rooms. I did not go through the shadows, tonight then.
I don't pay attention in my classes today, mulling over the new information of the day. I can feel Denki watching my anxiously, I almost chuckle at him. Tonight, I will have the answers I want, and new information to consider.
