I've been on a binge for this man it's a little ridiculous.
Anyways the premise is that Daryl meets a girl in Colorado and hooks up with her a few times. Set pre-outbreak and then through s4 later on.
Does in fact diverge from the canon.
Daryl might be a little OOC in this one, at least initially. But I like the idea that he was particularly hotheaded and angsty in seasons 1 and 2 because of Merle's presence (and then lack thereof) and because something had recently happened in his life prior to the apocalypse that made him short-tempered all the time.
I'm not going to put a warning for every chapter but they all WILL contain sensitive topics, including but not limited to: abuse, mentions of abuse, SA/descriptions of SA, guns, typical TWD violence, smut, drinking, and more
Also this is stocked to the brim with movie and music references. So if you're reading this and you're like "huh this reminds me of_____" yes. it is. I am an amalgamation of all the media I've consumed.
Ivy is also the name of my other OC for my Eddie Munson book, but they don't have any correlation to each other and are completely different aside from both being blonde. I'm self-indulgent sue me. If you like Eddie though check it out.
This book was initially inspired by by the song "Colder Weather" by Zac Brown Band, which is obviously the name of the fic as well, I highly recommend giving it a listen. There's also some other songs that go along with this fic, I just think Daryl matches heartbreak country so well.
