Puffing against the cold air, our team comes to a stop. I look down at my Nikes, I wriggle my toes in the soggy socks. 'Oh look' says Marie seeing my unhappy face. 'April's socks have gotten wet'. I laugh and bend down and pick up and handful of grey-ish snow 'don't you' she shrieks as I follow both us laughing as I throw the snowball. The team all starts running and throwing chunks of dirty snow as well.

I duck and tackle Teegen to the ground we both laugh. The blonde rolling out from beneath me. 'They weren't even aiming at us' she laughs. I shake my head laughing too. All too soon the fun is broken up by a concerned Jamie 'Come on' she says as everyone sighs. 'Come on I don't want you all getting cold and sick, come on, lets go that at café we like'. With a few more bits of snow flying through the air the girls all make their way back to the path.

The smell of coffee fills the air as we all sit around the small tables. We all are having a good time. Teegen sneaks her hand beneath my arm and pulls the corner of my croissant off my plate as I pretend not to notice at first. Then once she gets it I turn to her 'Despicable' I say with a big grin on my face. 'Ah if I'd know you, Teegen Koohln was a thief I wouldn't never of sat next to you'. She fakes shock, 'me? a thief? no I would never, I was simply making sure it didn't..' she takes a bite, 'didn't get cold'.

'You...' I say nudging her said gently. I get up, 'I'll pay guys it's my turn'. The others all act sad 'oh I can get it' they say extremely unenthusiastically. 'Thanks' says Jamie looking at me with a smile.

Up at the counter is an older man and someone I assume is his wife they are chatting to the barista I guess they are regular customers as the three of them are on first-name basis. 'I know Micky' says the old man, 'it's shocking that last night make what 4 now'.

His wife swipes her card against the black machine. 'All young fellas too' she adds sadly. The barista murmurs in response and catches my eye. He clears his throat and thanks the older couple and wishes them a good day.

'Hey' I say lightly 'just table umm', I turn around 'table 12'. I hold my phone with my bank app open, he stares at me for a moment. 'Your April Morley? he says 'the footballer?' He looks past me to the table. He takes an audible breathe in, 'that's, that's the whole team'. I laugh a little, 'don't go giving us away'. I gesture a little more towards the pay machine, he sees this quickly closing his mouth and presses a few buttons. 'Here you go'. I pay the amount and wish him a good day.

We all start to walk back slowly, 'Aps' says Teegen, 'my mum wants to show how to bake'. I stop in my tracts and so does everyone else. 'What?' I say, I little confused. 'Yeah' Teegens says absent mindedly. 'She wants to thank you I guess for the last games'.

The team returns to their earlier conversations, I join up to Teegen who was a few paces in front of me. 'When?' I ask 'I think she doesn't mind honestly' teegen says. I nod 'alright,' but your driving, 'I walked here and I don't feel like crashing that new car of yours.' She laughs 'my new beautiful car' she corrects me. I smile at how proud she is of her new joy. 'Okay,' I say. ' Where did you park your new beautiful car?' I ask making a point of saying the right words.
