Over the next few weeks, Kelada had not been able to free her mind of Nezra. She was with Jaden, but she found herself comparing her lover to the other man constantly. For starters Jaden was not rich, he worked a regular 9-5 at Amazon. Secondly, he had no depth of character — everything with Jaden was face value.

He was sweet and to be honest, he was what Kelada needed in her life. A mellow young man, not some soft spoken killer.

But he was no longer what she coveted.

Why did Nezra have to fuck up and kiss her? Why did he have to come into her life at all?

"Baby, you listenin'?"

Kelada focused upon Jaden as he sat in front of her in the booth, before smiling sheepishly. They were out to lunch at Olive Garden, unimpressive compared to the restaurant she had went to with N...

Damn!

"Sorry Jay, I was thinkin' about my mom."

It wasn't completely a lie; Kelada had only become closely connected to Nezra for her mother's care. In no way was she blaming her mother's care for the inner dilemma she battled, but she wondered if she would be content with Jaden right now if Ciyva had never gotten sick.

Or would she be coming up on the one year anniversary of her marriage with Sahir?

He returned her smile, "I understand baby. I only asked if you wanted to get dessert or not."

She gauged the emptiness of her stomach, "Not this time."

He paid the bill and they exited the affordable restaurant, Kelada focusing on the passing road their entire ride.

Her head leaned against the headrest of his Kia, and she folded her hands over her flat stomach.

She couldn't force herself to be happy with him; Nezra was who she desired.

"Jaden?" She spoke up and turned her head to look at him once they pulled go to her complex.

He looked over at her, waiting for her to speak again.

"I think our time together had been great, but I can't fake my emotions anymore. I want somebody else."
