Tanya's POV:I carefully lay Nathan down in the bassinet next to her sister. We got them changed and put them down for a nap.
Carmen and I came up with a little strategy to tell the girls apart. Well there is a visible difference but we can't alway look in their diapers to check so we came up with colors.
Nathan will have purple and baby blue while Natalie will have pink and yellow. Don't get me wrong Carmen got them matching outfits but we can tell them apart by putting different colored bow or head band.
"Tan, did you know that babies go through 3,360 nappies in the first year," Kate reads out loud quietly from one of the multiple baby books they had bought from the store.
"I did not know that. I need to be able to know this stuff," I admit and rub the back of my neck with a sigh.
Carmen set her hand on my shoulder, "mija, no one expects you to just know these things. Heck I don't think any of us do in this day and age. We'll take it one step at a time. Why don't we all take a book and read? The twins are down so we should have plenty of time to read through all of these."
That's not a bad idea. Maybe something I should have thought of but my mind is kinda going a million miles an hour right now to make sure everything's gonna be perfect for my twins.
"Yeah we should," I lean over to press a kiss on her cheek, "thanks, mom." I whisper into her ear before pulling away to grab a book from the coffee table.
I glance back finding Carmen with a beaming smile on her face and I smile to myself before sitting down on a corner chair that's closest to the twins. My sisters smile at me knowingly and go back to their own books.
I open the book and began reading. Going through these books should be a piece of cake. There's so many things I need to learn before they wake up.
I'm sure I'll learn new things along the way but until then, these books are gonna be our life savers. I quickly read through the first book before grabbing another one.
"This says to baby proof the house. What is that exactly?" Kate says then asks as she looks up from her book to stare at the rest of us.
Baby proof? "It's to have a gate at the beginning of the stairs so the twins won't climb and get hurt. Any sharp edges we have to put padding on it and put up anything that can be a choking hazard. It says we don't have to do that until they start crawling or walking," Irina answers as she reads from her book.
"Oh okay. Your book goes more into detail than mine does. Want to trade?" Kate says in realization then ask wiggling the book in her hand around in Irina's face.
So all of the books have different things in them. Good to know "No. Stop it, Kate," she hisses in annoyance and swats her away.
The babies make a noise and my head snaps towards my sisters. "Shut it! The both of you or you're gonna wake them up!" I whisper harshly at them and they wince but clamp their mouths shut.
"Now now, girls, we're all gonna read these books together so you'll be able to read the one Irina has soon, Kate. No more fighting," Carmen calmly announces in a soft tone to not disturb the girls.
They lower their heads in shame. "Sorry mom, Tanya," they mumble and I roll my eyes playfully with a quiet chuckle.
"It's alright. Just gotta remember we have two sleeping babies a few feet from us," I remind them quietly and they both gaze at the bassinet with a loving look.
I smile softly at the sight. They're gonna be the best aunts my kids will ever have. I just know it. "Here, Katrina," Irina says and handed over the book she had.
