Chapter 0.1 The Meeting

" Ms. Clark?" Kai couldn't hear the secretary , she was too engulfed in The Vow, she was watching aimlessly on her phone on Netflix " Ms. Clark they're ready for you" " oh I would do anything for love, but I won't do that" Channing Tatum sang jokingly in the first few minutes of the movie, making Kai's cheeks turn red as she chuckled to the melody " MS.CLARK! HES WAITING FOR YOU!" The secretary yelled from across the room and Kai jumped up, the resume she carried in her left hand falling all over the floor. " I've been calling your name now for t-" the secretary's scolding quickly stopped and Kai heard a door open, but her sight was fixated on organizing the paper that had just fell. She looked to her left and found a paper of her last job " pro scooper at Dino Parlor Ice Cream Shop" she tucked it back into the envelope. She didn't notice the pitch male dress shoes appear in front of her, and she surely didn't notice the man taking a knee to catch a glimpse of her rattled face " Ms. Clark?" Kai looked up to see a man tilting his head to the side to better see her, his eyes were brown and his eyebrows thick "he looked a few years older than me" Kai thought to herself " I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention and my resume fell on the floor, I'm picking it up as fast as possible!" " Ms. Clar-" " don't worry I'm almost done, I'd hate for Mr Choi to see me like t-" " Ms. Clark" the man said sternly and her head snapped up toward him. She looked at his furrowed eyebrows then down to his golden plated name tag that read, in big bold letters " Mr.Choi,CEO" Kai snapped up, but in her sudden movement the resume fell back out on the floor " Mr.Choi! I am SO sorry i was t-" " it's alright,Ana would you pick this up and fax it to my desk? This won't be long " he slightly rolled his eyes and turned toward the big walnut wood doors leading toward his office, hands in pocket. Ana, the secretary, looks at Kai with a straight face, slightly shaking her head. Kai's stomach fell " well, here goes another failed interview" she put her head down. Once they reached Me. Choi's desk Kai was astonished by the decor in the room " wow, you really love purple " his head snapped up, and he subtly nodded " so, tell me about yourself Kai. Why are you eyeing the job for my P.A? This job comes with heavy responsibilities, it's not easy. You're the third person in here today and there will unlikely be more for another week due to the consistent schedule of the role. I read your school profile, you're highly intelligent but you seem a bit... dim " he said rather sternly staring Kai dead in the eyes, her heart fell further into her chest and her stomach tensed " did he just call me dumb?" Her nose flared as she thought of a kind but just as harsh comeback " well in this position it seems dim would suffice considering the color scheme that we're required to wear to the interview alone " " I see your wrinkled shirt, I know it toke you a while to find it" " I see your straight pressed shirt, I know you didn't do anything but put it on your nicely silver spoon fed body " he chuckled sharply" are you calling me high-handed?"she rolled her neck " if the purple shoe fits"

Ana, the secretary walks back into the lobby and to see Kai and Mr.Choi damn near chest to chest now, both staring with the meanest mugs on their faces " a- Mr- Mr. Choi?" " yes! Ana" he says turning completely from Kai and walking back to his desk " go ahead and walk my ill-prepared friend back to the elevator if you could " " yes Mr. Cho-" " and if you could, also give her some advice on interview etiquette " " oh fuck you dude!" Kai Clark storms out of the room, chest burning, heart beating and eyes narrowed toward the elevator. She missed Ana trying to hand her back her resume, now perfectly filed and year coordinated. When Kai was getting into the elevator she looked toward Mr.Chois walnut double doors, staring in fury, her eyes bucked out when she saw his doors roughly pushed open as he ran out with an angry expression on his face " and learn how to iron!" He shouts as the doors to the elevator close. Ana watches as the elevator doors slam shut finally and she hears a loud shriek breaking over the stainless steel, jolting back toward her desk " and I thought my last break up was bad" she whispers underneath her breath

The cold breeze hits Kai's face as she steps out into the air, " Rai Corp" on the doors of the building she just stormed out of. Rai Corp was the name of MR. Choi's company, generating number analysis and stock rise and crash. She herself was a computer analyze, winning second place at her cities nationals two times in a row. " ASSHOLE!" Kai squatted and screamed into her arm, passing strangers staring in horror at the scene. She sat still there for awhile, until she started to feel light drops of water on the back of her neck "of course it rains" she let out a big sigh and felt a tear roll down her cheek. This felt like the thirtieth stab in the back after continuously trying so hard, nothing was going right. " it's okay" she thought to herself " I can always move back in with my parents and be broke and an embarrassment, that would be easy. I can go back to being a pro scooper " she lightly chuckled feeling the rain hit her face now, the laughter started to grow and she threw her head back " no. I've come to far to give up now " she nodded to herself. As she stood up she noticed the rain stopped coming down on her but it still poured on everything that surrounded her, she quickly spun around and stepped back, almost falling, but a hand reached for her back and her heels adjusted. She looked up into the eyes of Mr.Choi, staring still sternly, but with a slight of worry " grab this. " he ushered the umbrella toward her, she obliged and held the handle close to her chest, taken aback " you start on Monday, be here by 6 AM or don't come at all " he turned slightly to the side, putting his hand in his pocket but then looking back once more, this time his face showed a glimmer of desire. He walked away in the pouring rain, back into the glass doors reading in the bold' Rai Corp' logo. She quickly turned back toward the street, now seeing the sun break out beyond the clouds that filled the streets with rain, hands gripping her chest as her feet lifted and a shout was heard in the streets " YES! I DID IT! NO GOING HOME TO MOM " she shrieked, running down the street toward the train station. The glimmer of light that broke out from the the clouds shined down on Mr.Choi's face as he stared down at the girl that cried in the pouring rain, now running vigorously through the street. A chuckle jumped from his stomach before he noticed, and a smile followed. He stood like that in the window for a minute or so until a knock broke the grin from his face " come in" "yes Mr.Choi, your two o'clock assistant interview has a-" " cancel it. The position has been filled "
