Kai stared aimlessly at the purple sneakers she wore, remembering back on how she denounced purple to her now boss, and she threw her head back " great not only do I look stupid, but I can't find the right purple!" She spent $103.56 at Ross, damn near buying them out of all of their purple adult clothing. She had spent so much time in the clothing store spending her savings she didn't realize how hungry she was until she arrived home to a bottle of ketchup, a spoon and some sugar " not again, I'm not doing the sug-up combo again" she said, flaring her nose in disgust as she thought about her move in day, only sugar and ketchup to heal her hunger " maybe ?" She looked outside towards the diner beneath her apartment, now huffing in defeat, grabbing her jacket and slamming her door.

The diner beneath her apartment wasn't ordinary, it also served as a restaurant that frequently had multiple buyers in the early hours of the morning and late hours of the night because it was open 24/7 for some reason, and though Kai hated the noise, she couldn't complain because the owners son was her best friend. She would come downstairs on days when she was starving and help out in the kitchen for an extra burger or two, she couldn't deny how lucky she was to have it available to her when she needed the help.

"he said what to you! " "exactly! " Kai was blabbing to Wooyoung about the mess that she had made in Mr. Choi's office the day before, she had just gotten to the part where Mr. Choi denounced her ironing skills "and on top of that, he gave me the job!" "what! " Wooyoung threw his head back now laughing abruptly while throwing popcorn in his mouth, he couldn't resist the stories that Kai would tell him when she would stop by, it felt like he could live his life through her whenever she explained how crazy her world was. Wooyoung had a lack of freedom, his parents owned the diner for years and swore him in as the rightful owner when the time would come, so he had never gotten a chance to live for himself. Having a friend that had a life full of choices was exciting to him. "well is he cute? You cant go back-and-forth with a guy like that unless he's really hot " "that's one thing I hate about you wooyoung, you always ask the personal questions" they laughed "I wasn't looking at that! I was too busy, trying not to punch him in the face!" Kai shoved popcorn into her mouth abruptly, hoping Wooyoung wouldn't catch onto her lie, but he did. He leaned over in his chair and stared at her right in the eyes before saying "do I look like I was born yesterday?" Kai through her head back, trying not to laugh with the popcorn escaping her mouth "I mean I guess if you're into the asshole kind of guy, then he's very hot" Wooyoung just leaned back, smirking at her "what's your type anyway?" "Kia shrugged "I don't know, but I definitely know it's not the asshole type "they both giggled and continued to talk about her new uptight boss, though the conversation was mostly making fun of him and their five minute banter from the day before, Kai couldn't help but wonder what was in store for the next day to come. She realized from talking to Wooyoung just how attracted she was to her new boss, and that made her stomach jump. When she got back to her apartment full and all talked out, she plopped on the couch. "Was he really that attractive? Or was he screaming so loud I couldn't tell?" Instead of causing herself more anxiety by thinking about it all night, she turned Netflix on and quickly fell asleep.

Wooyoung POV

I hated the feeling that I got in my stomach when Kai talked about her soon to be boss, the tightness of jealousy and envy for the man that I didn't even know melted a little bit of security that I had within myself to hold back my feelings for her. Kai had been my friend for such a long time, and I realized how horrifying to her it would be finding out that her best friend was in love with her, but sitting here looking dumb right after she left makes me change my perspective on if I should tell her how I feel or not. I began to clean up the mess that we made from the popcorn earlier, thinking about all of the times where I had to come up behind her and clean up her mess because she never knew what she was doing. I lightly chuckled, Id do anything for her, if only she knew. Suddenly my emotions got the best of me, and I found myself picking up my phone ready to dial her number, but then I waited. I walked out of the front doors of the diner, and looked up towards the apartment buildings, hers was the first one above. I waited a little longer and looked at the clock that read 1:20 AM, right then I saw her lights go out. "I won't bother her "I whispered to myself. "I'll just wait until the morning" I said. I think me and my subconscious both knew that that was a lie.
