I was waiting for the bus to arrive as our school was taking us to a trip. I'm kind of nervous I stand there, backpack snug against my spine, nerves fluttering like paper birds. The sun casts elongated shadows, and time stretches.

Finally, the bus arrived, and we entered the as the bus's doors sighed open, we stepped inside started our eyes scanned the rows of seats to find a seat for 3 people and there, like a plot twist inked by fate, my gaze collided with my enemy JASON. I'm suspicious about him because there were some rumors that he was the youngest mafia of his family.

My father was a mafia and is no more. At 10, I stood on the precipice of innocence, my world unraveling like a worn novel. My father, a guardian with a shadowed past, shielded me and my mother from his enemy's. But at the end he was brutally killed by his enemy. I still remember their voice it keeps on running in my mind.

"𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝."

"𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔! 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙖 𝙛𝙚𝙬 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙨."

He died Infront of my eyes, so my mom always gave me some precautions she doesn't even let me hangout with my friends ever since she knew that there was a mafia in our class. In the quiet corners of my existence, I weave a web of half-truths a cocoon to shield your vulnerability. My mother, a canvas of concern, believes the lie I've spun that he won't join the school trip. But beneath my words lies a secret because I can't live my whole life being scared so I have been taking some training, but no one knows.

I look at Mia and Cassey as they dozed off. The view stretched out before me; a breathtaking canvas painted by nature's hand. The sun dipped low, casting a warm golden hue across the landscape. Mountains stood tall, their peaks touching the sky, while valleys cradled secrets whispered by the wind.

I framed the scene through my phone's lens, capturing the essence of this moment. Each click was a heartbeat, freezing time into pixels. The vibrant greens of the trees, the rugged contours of the hills—they all danced together in harmony.

The journey unfolded was like a secret whispered by the wind. We were passengers, carried by fate's invisible hand, hurtling toward an unknown destination as the teachers didn't even say where we were heading to. The road stretched ahead, a ribbon of possibility, winding through valleys and over hills.

I continue reading my book suddenly a text pop up.

it's my best friend Andrew.

𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄: hey hazel where are u? I thought u were coming to our school trip.

Me: Andrew I'm in the bus I think Ur in other bus. I'm with Mia and Cassey

Andrew: oh, u didn't tell me Ur coming its fine see u at the destination bye.

Me: I'm so sorry I was kind of busy yesterday I was packing my stuff so couldn't text u.

I take a deep breath and keep my phone aside.

My gaze lifts toward the ceiling as tears ran down my cheeks. "don't cry be strong hazel"  I reassure myself quietly, trying to stay strong amidst the rush of memories flooding my mind.

I take a glance at her, and her eyes were flooded by tears. In that fleeting moment, I take glance a at her. Hers were oceans of sorrow, each tear a testament to the weight she carried. It weighed on my mind but then I stopped myself. In that quiet moment, I closed my eyes and thought about what my father shared.

"Son her father was the one who destroyed our family's reputation so don't show any pity on her" he demanded me.

But what if she gets to know that my father was the one who killed her father? Will she get to know? or will my dad hurt her? A tumult of thoughts surged within me.
