Chapter 5

Hoshi laid asleep in bed until hands gently shook her. "Hoshi." Her eyes opened and she sat up yawning sleepily. Regef chuckled when she leaned against him, his hand resting on her waist. "It's time to get up"Regef smiled chuckling again when she whimpered. "Ten more minutes, I'm still sleepy"Hoshi sighed the male beside her snickering quietly. She rubbed the sleepiness out of her eyes and yawned again. "You must be hungry right?"Regef smiled twirling some of her hair around his finger. "Yes I am"Hoshi nodded as knocking came from the door. "Come i-"Regef started standing up. Guards barged into the room, their eyes widening. "What are you all doing!? Barging in here like this"Regef demands holding his hand out in front of Hoshi alarmed. The guards grabbed Hoshi, a gasp of surprise coming from her as they hauled her out of bed and down the the hallway. "HOSHI!!" She looked back at Regef, her eyes wide as the grip on her arms tightened. Regef reached towards her, Jannon keeping him back

Hoshi stumbled, the guards dragging her into a room and releasing her arms. "Child." She flinched, knowing who this voice was. The bed-ridden emperor. She only knew of him because she'd hear her parents talking about them. Did her being here caused a disturbance of some sort. "Your hig-"Hoshi starts trembling. "Come here." She took a step forward, walking over to the side of the bed, looking nervous. "There is no need for formalities"The man says holding his hand up. She took his hand but he pulled her close, his mouth right next to her ear. "Are you sure you can trust that boy?" Her eyes widened, looking alarmed. Hands pulled her back, Regef's arms wrapped around her. "Your majesty, it's not right to drag someone who just got up out of bed"Regef says quietly, his grip on her tightening. "You're right, Hoshi, was it? Call me by my name from now on, Esteban...I hope you visit me more often"The bedridden man replies looking at her. "You seem like a good kid." Regef wrapped robes around her, leading her out of the room. She looked back at the man, then looked forward.

He led her back to his room, the servants quickly getting her dressed as he walked away. Hoshi stayed silent, standing still. Regef returned once they were finished, his eyes widening. Hoshi turned to him wearing blue dress with ruffles, silver trimming flower patterns along it with blue fake daisies. Fake flower petals scattered across the chest part lined with the same silver trimming around the petals edges, her hair up in a bun with a ponytail. Silence came from the prince, his eyes staying trained on her. "Regef..."Hoshi stared looking concerned. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her into a tight hug. "Regef?"Hoshi blinked surprised. He moved back, her eyes watching his face. "You look beautiful..."Regef smiled his hands resting on her waist. She perked up and averted her gaze feeling embarrassed by the comment. "It makes me want to show you off to everyone"Regef chuckles amused by her reddening face. She perked up, having wanted to do something since coming here.

"C-Can you teach me how to ride a horse!?"Hoshi asks looking up at him. Her eyes sparkled, causing a grin of amusement to spread across his face.  "It's dangerous"Regef grinned. "I can do it!"Hoshi beamed looking determined. "Jannon, we should get the excited lady a horse"Regef smiled turning to his aide. "Understood"Jannon sighed throwing her a small glare. Hoshi gasped and practically jumped onto the blond, a wide smile on her face. "THANK YOU!" He stared at her surprised as she pressed a kiss to his cheek, his eyes wide. She squealed and hurried away to go eat the breakfast the maids brought. "I really love her..."Regef mutters touching his cheek. Jannon's eyes narrowed, trying to hide his annoyance. Regef walked after Hoshi, smiling as he joined her. "I've never ridden a horse before! This will be my first time!"Hoshi beamed. "You shouldn't eat with your mouth full"Regef scolds watching her in amusement. Coughing made him freeze, his eyes widening. Hoshi stared at her bloodied dress. She fell sideways, hitting the ground. "HOSHI!!"

Panicked yells filled the room, Hoshi laying in bed as the doctors checked on her. "It'll take too long to get the cure.." "We have to do something or the prince will have our heads!" Regef stared at Hoshi, watching as she coughed up blood her, skin turning pale from the spreading poison. He turned to run out only for Jannon to grab his arm. "Don't! You'll anger the emperor!"Jannon yells getting the attention of everyone else. "GET OFF ME!!!" Regef shoved him down and bolted out, running at full speed through the halls. He rushed past Cayena, startling his sister. Cayena turned, looking stunned to see him moving so fast. "What's going on?"Cayena mumbles stunned by the commotion. Regef rushed outside, taking one of the guards horse. He hopped up into the saddle, taking off at full speed. "Your majesty, the prince!!" Regef kept his eyes forward, his hair flying back as the horse galloped into the town, people quickly dodging him. He snatched the reins, forcing the horse to go left.

Screams and shrieks of shock or alarm filled the air as the horse galloped full speed. The horse leaped onto crates, climbing up them and leaping down on the otherside, following it by leaping over barrels. His hands snatched at the reins again, turning the horse to the east, more people dodging him. He leaped off the horse when they reached a building with a herb sign, bursting into the shop. "I need a poison antidote!"Regef yells shocking the shops owners. "Quickly!" His hands trembled as he watched them, and snatched the medicine before rushing out. He whistled, the horse galloping over. He hopped up into the saddle, taking off back towards home. The horse passed by incoming guards, causing them to freeze and look back at him before giving chase. "I'm coming! Hang on, Hoshi!"Regef mutters gripping the antidote. His horse stumbled, falling over sending him crashing shoulder first into the ground. He pushed himself up, hands grabbing him. "LET ME GO!!"Regef commanded. "The emperor wants to see you."

Hoshi opened her eyes, her breathing ragged. Cayena sat by her side, holding her hand. "You're awake, that's a relief"Cayena smiled brushing hair to the side. "Regef..."Hoshi mumbles looking around. "He caused some...trouble, he's being reprimanded right now.."Cayena informs Hoshi staring at her. Hoshi sat up, placing a foot on the ground. "Don't move!"Cayena commands trying to keep her in bed. "Where is he..."Hoshi mutters struggling to breath. "You-"Cayena starts looking worried. "He's in trouble because of me...I have to stop whatever is happening"Hoshi coughed gripping her chest. Cayena pursed her lips together then sighed, gesturing to a guard. Hoshi stared at the man, realizing he was the nice guard she had went out with on the day of the attempted kidnapping. He reached out and picked her up, quickly carrying her out of the room. Cayena hurried after the duo, the three of them heading to the emperors area. Hoshi narrowed her eyes, a sleepy determined look on her face, ready to help Regef.
