the story of the two sisters are well known throughout the land. once upon a time, there were two sisters, one had power over the sun while the other ruled over the moon and both rule over the land. the younger sister, jealous of the ponies of the land finding joy in her sister daytime, refused to lower the moon and transformed into a wicked mare. she fought her sister and in the end, the older sister prevailed. she sealed her rebellious sister in the moon and from then on, rule the land all on her own.

but it was said that in 1000 years, the younger sister will grain enough power to break the seal and wreak havoc once again.

for most ponies, this story stopped there but Celestia knew better. as she looked at the moon, the silhouette of her sister ever more clear, she could feel how her hand tremble and ached. the quill she was holding slipped from her grasp and now laid on the ground, leaving a trail of ink in its path. her time was running out.

the moonlight crept into her room and Celestia neatly fold the letter and with a wave of her hand, sent the letter away, to her student, Twilight Sparkle. Contained in the letter is the needed information and preparation for the following future.

"Twilight? are you there?"

the door to the observatory opened with a loud creak. Spike timidly stepped into the room and looked around. Every open books and papers were where they were three days ago. "Twilight?"

Spike hurriedly took out a piece of post-it note from his pocket. the paper was wrinkled and stained but the message written was still readable:

"Princess called. I'll be gone for a bit! - Twilight"

This wasn't like Twilight, she would have written the time more clearly, he thought. As she was studious and highly ambitious in the field of magic, she had a habit of isolating herself and very independent. Even so, she still had ponies in her corner, like Moon Dancer, a likeminded pony to Twilight who would help her with research and experimenting , Princess Celestia who would lend her advice when needed, and of course, Spike.

But she hasn't been well. Lately, she talked about something tugging at her mind. The feeling got worse by the days and even caused her to lose sleep over it. the research she did with Moon Dancer pointed to a possible lead being the legend of the mare in the moon. when they brought this to the princess, she dismissed it and advice them to research another lead, which Twilight never told him about like she promised. Spike would push her to talk about it but she always insisted she would talk about it later.

"i should have pushed more"

walking up the stairs and into her bedroom, Spike stood still before the perfectly made bed. nothing in the room had been moved. she hasn't been home for three days. struck with the sudden realization, Spike dashed out of the observatory and made his way to the throne room were the princess was.

the throne room was full of busy ponies, running in and out of the room. Ponies surrounded princess Celestia as she dealt with it all with a smile on her face. but the strained looks and dark circles under their eyes didn't go unnoticed. She was talking to advisors when they heard fast footsteps from outside. the guards quickly straightened and squared up, the princess stood tall, all waiting for guest.
