(Scene 1: Act Two)

(The stage is set in the lush forest surrounding Grace Field House. The sunlight filters through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground. The sounds of laughter and playful chatter fill the air as the CHILDREN play a spirited game of tag. Everything seems normal, as if the events of the previous night were nothing more than a distant memory. MAMA helps a few CHILDREN make a paper airplane and fly it. EMMA and NORMAN appear on stage, and the CHILDREN freeze in place)

EMMA: (whispering) Norman, we have to talk

NORMAN: (nodding) I agree. let's go further into the forest.

(NORMAN and EMMA exit the stage, opposite to the side they came on. After they disappear, the CHILDREN walk off stage. EMMA and NORMAN reappear coming in on the opposite side again.)

EMMA: (fearful) They feed us, clothe us, give us our white clothes and regulated lives, all for us to be eaten?

NORMAN: (thinking expression) And what about our daily tests? They said Conny was average, and you, Ray, and I were high grade. does the meat taste better depending on what score you get on the test?

(EMMA and NORMAN sit down at the edge of the stage)

EMMA: that doesn't make any sense... meat can't taste better depending on a test. right?

NORMAN: I'm not sure. But for now, I want to focus on what we know already. Before Conny was Hao, and Ceddy before him. each time in between them was 2 months.

EMMA: so in theory we have about two months?

NORMAN: exactly.

(NORMAN and EMMA look up at RAY who enters the stage and NORMAN and EMMA turn their attention to him)

RAY: Yo.

EMMA: (worried) Wha- what are you doing here...Ray?

RAY: sorry, I followed you guys here. It's been bugging me, so I thought I should ask.

(He leans in between EMMA and RAY)

RAY: What happened last night at the gate?

(He puts his arms around them and begins "choking" them)

RAY: You both have been acting really strange, so why don't you just open up already?

NORMAN: (trying to get away from RAY'S grip) Wow...so...sharp...

RAY: Come on! Spit it out! What happened?

(RAY lets NORMAN and EMMA go, and they both begin coughing before continuing)

NORMAN: Will you help us?

RAY: Sure.

NORMAN: Let me explain. We all have to escape from here. This place, Grace Field House is a farm. And us... the children, are all food for demons. Mama is working for them as well.

RAY: (putting on a fearful act) Demons, a farm, mama is an enemy... This is really bad.

EMMA: (surprised) Wait... why are you believing us so easily?

RAY: (smirking) There's no way Norman would make up such a ridiculous lie! He's not you, Emma!

(EMMA begins to internally rage for a brief moment)

RAY: Anyways, if we're really escaping, we should be able to do it with just us three.

EMMA: (Pointing at RAY) Actually, we want to take everyone. were going to escape with all our siblings, and we need you to help!

RAY: You're kidding, right? there's no way we can escape with everyone! Maybe Don and Gilda, but that's it!

RAY: (getting angry) There are thirty-seven of us in total, and most of us are under six! We'll all die if we take everyone! Mama, the demons, and have you even thought of the possibility of tracking devices? We can't rule out any possible factor that would get us caught!
