Chapter 2: End Game

"And I can't let you go
your handprint's on my soul"
End Game - Taylor Swift

He stared in her eyes. She had been dreaming for this moment for weeks. This wasn't as much of a dream for him since he spends every weekend at this bar but it was still surreal. He has been so intoxicated with love for this beautiful girl that he spends his only free time watching her.

Watching her strum the guitar ever so gently. Watching her serenade the fans from the back of the stage. While the crowd may not have noticed that she was just as much of a star as Lucy Gray. He knew.

He was learning all about her from a distance. That wasn't enough though. He needed to learn about her thoughts and about the parts of her body he couldn't see. So in this moment when they locked eyes he knew they were End Game.

Coriolanus watched Daisy Jade with a smile. He knew that she liked to twirl while playing the guitar. He knew that the audience got a rise out of her twirling. He knew that she sang those backing vocals that aren't prominent but make the whole song. He knew the audience didn't even hear them. He knew her hair was dark auburn and her lips were the perfect shade of pink.

Just that morning Coriolanus had worked his ass off to be able to go to the bar tonight. Other peacekeepers were slaking off for the past week. This caused their commander to threaten to not let them have the weekend off.

Yesterday, Coriolanus had yelled like a mad man at them. Saying they are ruining everything for him and if they can't do their job they will have to deal with the pain of his fist in their face.

Ever since then the peacekeepers seemed to be putting in a lot more effort than normal.

Sejanus approached Coriolanus after their long day on Thursday. "Hey Coryo, are you doing okay?" Sejanus asked worriedly. "Yeah I'm fine Sejanus, I just need to be at the bar tomorrow night and I can't have everyone else fucking that up for me." Coriolanus responded in a deep, angry voice. Sejanus tries to make him feel better by saying "I'm sure he wouldn't actually take away our weekend privileges, Coryo, he just wants to get us off our asses."
"I don't care if he means it or not Sejanus. I have to be at the bar tomorrow night!" he yells and grabs Sejanus' collar. "I don't think your girl will be to happy with your violence." Coriolanus let's go, scoffs and storms out.

Sejanus didn't see him again until Friday night, at the bar. "Coryo! You made it!" Sejanus shouted cheerfully grabbing Coryo's hand, pulling his hand into a hug. "You know I couldn't miss tonight Sejanus." Coryo muttered under his breath with a small smile.

He had been waiting for the weekend since the last one ended. Pining for the next time he got to stare into her eyes. He'd seen Daisy Jade talk to the girl running the bar before. He'd then realized the girl at the bar was looking for him. He put two and two together and thought that maybe Daisy Jade had told the bar girl to look for him while she's playing. That meant that she wanted him. That the feelings weren't one sided. That he had a chance.

He sat in the same seat he was in when Daisy Jade and him shared stares. He finally wanted to meet her. Instead of watching from a distance hoping she'd be interested in him. Little did he know she'd been interested in him since he'd first saw her.

The crowd started to disperse and empty the place out once the show ended. They begged for an encore and Lucy Gray gave them one last song before finally leaving the stage.

Daisy Jade ran out from back stage, looking for him. The blond guy with a buzz cut that she had been searching for every weekend. She pushed through people trying to locate just where his seat was. Then she saw him. The butterflies started to flutter around in her stomach. Her cheeks were turning more pink by the second.

When he turned to look at her she smiled softly. He smiled back. Like they had known eachother their whole lives and were reuniting after war. They had never met once in their lives though. That was the beauty of it all. The instant connection.

Coriolanus' heart skipped a beat as he stood out of his chair. He put his hand out for Daisy Jade to grab. When she did she said "Hi, I'm Daisy Jade." and shook his hand. Coriolanus smiled and said "I know, I mean.. Hi I'm Coriolanus." He had never stumbled on his words like this before. He'd never been so madly in love with someone before. "You can just call me Daisy though." Daisy Jade uttered.

Coriolanus had never heard anyone call her just Daisy before. That meant that he was one of the only ones that got to call her that. That he was special to her, even though they just officially met. He thought that maybe she had been obsessing over him just as much as he had her. She truly hadn't been obsessing, but she did enjoy looking at him. A lot.

"Daisy, would you maybe want to get a drink with me and get to know one another?" Coriolanus asked with his smug smile. "I think I would love too." Daisy replied cheerfully.

They approached the bar looking at each other. Iris giggled under her breath seeing her best friend so wrapped up in possible love. "What can I get for you too" Iris asked with a smile. "Um, can I get a dirty Shirley Temple please?" Daisy asked politely, pretending like she didn't know everything about the bartender. "Of course! And for you sir?" Iris questioned while writing down their tab. "I'll take an Old Fashioned." Coriolanus replied sternly. "Alright I'll get that out for you in just a minute!" Iris said joyfully as ever.

Daisy Jade and Coriolanus sat down at a two seater table in the bar. By this time everyone else had left to go find other performances in other bars. They sat and looked at each other. Coriolanus had these piercing blue eyes. His hair was a platinum blond and had been buzzed when he became a peacekeeper.

Daisy Jade had hazel eyes and auburn hair. She wasn't as eye catching as he was. Yet he saw something in her that no one else had. He'd seen her smile of pure joy. That's what caught his eye. How happy she was. He had felt so numb until he saw her. Now he was sitting at a table with her not saying a word because he didn't want to ruin anything.

They continued to sit in silence until Iris brought their drinks. "So, Coriolanus, What do you do other than keep peace?" Daisy Jade asked, taking a sip of her drink. "Well. I spend most of my time training and working but when I do get my moments of free time, I come here." Coriolanus answered making Daisy Jade blush.

They were making great conversation when Lucy Gray and Sejanus walked up. "Hey Coryo, It's about time for us to head back to camp." Sejanus said when they approached. "Coryo?" Daisy jade asked and looked at Coriolanus with a smirk. "It's what my friends call me." Coriolanus replied not looking pleased at Sejanus.

"Alright Daisy Jade enough fun for one night, we've got to head home and you can see Coriolanus tomorrow." Lucy Gray insisted grabbing Daisy Jade's arm. "Tomorrow?" Daisy Jade asked. "Yes, Lucy Gray invited Coriolanus and I to come see your place and go for a swim in the lake." Sejanus added. "Well then I guess I'll see you tomorrow Coryo." Daisy Jade said while walking away with Lucy Gray.

"Tomorrow it is, Daisy" He ended the verbal conversation but his thoughts were still filled with her words and face.
