A ocean blue flushed the dark room in light as the moon sat at its peak, with a young boy settled in the bed by the wall. As he felt his mind drift off, he recounted his math lesson. Pythagoras. Pi. Anything to keep his mind awake. He has one shot and it has to count. Every breath felt like another step into the dark. The leaves outside the window rustled in the quiet wind. Just relax, he reminded himself. It was all bout relaxing. He felt his body turn numb, with a prickling sensation at the tip of his fingers as it twitched. All sound was suddenly quiet like he'd jumped into a pool of water. He opened his eyes and watched as the shadows in the room morphed and distorted. Almost like animals. Or humans? With eyes bulging out of their black abyss like body.
"What is it?"
Floating inches above him, a shadow grinned, it's red eyes daring him to make the wrong move.
"I want to invoke my reward" He replied calmly. It's gaze was indifferent as it sighed. He could vaguely feel it's breath. It smelt like charcoal. The crowd around the two was quiet, watching in the corner of his eyes.
"The sheep, was it?" It asked with a half chuckle. "I have no interest in the boy. He's not fit to be a part of this"
"You think I am? I don't give two shits about your petty fight" He snapped. It glared at him, quiet, daring him to continue. But he wasn't afraid of this thing.
"Plus.. You owe me" He sang, smirking as he met his glare with dare. It glared at him, quietly, for what felt like ages. Caught by surprise huh? He thought to himself proudly. This little shit was nothing but a petty child. Just like his brother. The creature's grin disappated quickly and he couldn't quite read it's expression.
"Is this a request or demand?" It asked calmly. Slowly. Thoughtful as it pondered on the differences. He couldn't quite tell what it's end goal was.
"A demand" He replied. It looked at him, for a good few seconds before it sighed. The air lifted as the room grew darker, with every shadow looming closer, filling his vision with a million red eyes, all on him. A symbol rose in the air, floating, a thin tree with only two sticks to it's right. As soon as it'd appeared, it broke like glass hit by a rock and he closed his eyes. That's it. But the anger, resentment physically lifted off his shoulders at that thought. Knowing Nolah wouldn't get away with it. After all these years, he'd finally get what he deserved. A shadowy nightmare that'd loom over his shoulder for the rest of his life, picking away at his sanity, bit by bit.
